White numbers/shields on map?
What do they mean? I thought it was something to do with the level you needed to be to explore the areas but I think this isn't right now, is it something to do with the Spartan and Athenian power struggle in each region?

I'm confused: the title of the post specifically states Map information clarification, like shields - an icon. Anyways, glad you got the answer you needed. And it's been 50 years since someone called me boy - feels good.

They are labels on the provinces, not icons, hence why I didn't find the info in the legend. My question has been answered.

yeah there isnt anything on the map legend about them I guess its something about sparton/athenian power?

the white shields with the numbers next to them show you the level of the region which is only important if your level is lower then the level of the region since enemies which are lower level then yours get scaled up but not the other way around.

Ahh, thanks for finally clarifying that - I was wondering too. Sometimes it's more satisfying to hear it from gamer peers than to look things up.
