stop reducing the freaking horse speed!!!
Since AC:Brotherhood, horse speed is reduced inside cities which is annoying as hell, so for 10 years and titles that came after it with horses is still the same without any updates despite the community feedback on this, now it got even worse, its reduced around forts and in comabt as well, and takes a while to get away from radius to get full speed back, WTF is going on with this!?!?!?!?

another thing, why the hell the character is too slow when running and climbing especially inside cities and restricted areas!!!!!

Seconded. The game-imposed speed limit is annoying as hell.

Sometimes if I'm trying to get from point-A to point-B and there's a city/encampment on the way, I usually have to skirt around the edges just so the damn place doesn't slow me down so much. It would be much faster to travel in a straight line, of course, but NOOO, the game feels the need to slow you to a crawl just because you're in a populated area. It's usually faster to go around the damn place at full gallop than to trot slowly through.

Agreed, I understand if it is due to a technical limitation but it is getting rather ridiculous when off your horse you can run faster.

Hey there,

I've made sure to mention horse/character speed feedback to our team as I've seen it posted quite a few times on the discussion boards. Thanks for your suggestion!
Phaze Oct 29, 2018 @ 3:26pm
Thank you for the response, Cosmos.

I hope the team takes this suggestion to heart and a speed increase will be forthcoming. :)

lol I've seen that response numerous times before. It's the not-gonna-change response from Ubisoft.

Actually... Our feedback on Steam made a difference in Assassin's Creed Origins. You just have to bear in mind that when we're told that our feedback will be forwarded to the rest of the team, it doesn't necessarily mean that it will definitely happen. But I remember for Origins, feedback made a huge difference.

For example, we wanted to be able to sell duplicated outfits at the weaver and they made it happen.

If using mouse and keyboard, this game has exactly two speed settings: bat out of hell breakneck and tree sloth molasses. The issue is worse on horses than on foot, but both are outrageous. Ubisoft doesn't seem inclined to correct the issue. It makes me wonder why they've even added mouse and keyboard support if they're, you know, not going to properly support it.

We shouldn't have to give feedback on an issue that's this clearly broken. Granted, speed on foot might be a matter of taste, but walking speed with horse is broken by any standard. All it takes is for the developer in charge of this to put down his controller and play using the keyboard. Get on the horse and move at the slowest setting. This dev would plainly see it's broken and unusbale. He or she would clearly see that using M/KB, horses are only effectively useful at the high speed. But then that dev should ask him or herself, "Hey, we built this gorgeous game world; do we really want to force our players to view it like they're running the Belmont Stakes?" Then said developer might go into whatever program they're using and change a couple settings and the problem is solved. Change the values to match those from Origins. Easy.

This sort of thing shouldn't have to be "forwarded." Two seconds of testing would reveal the problem to any dev. But apparently all devs use controllers and Ubi has only added M/KB support because they sort of have to. But they clearly don't want to. And their attention on this matter proves it.

A hotfix for this should've been released two weeks ago. I know Ubi has very big fisj to fry with some peolpe crashing or not able to load the game, but this speed problem would be so EASY too fix.

I remember this being a thing in AC Brotherhood and it was a bug where you couldn't gallop sometimes. I hate that it is now a feature.

Thank you for your reply and taking a note, but to be honest here and not trying to be pessimistic, 10 years ago with AC:Brotherhood, same thing was said and even creative directors and community developers talked about this and said it will be fixed (because to me its a bug) but nothing has been done, thats since 10 years.

Now if you look at origins, it behaves like ACB, only in cities you get your horse speed reduced but the character speed is the same, in combat and all other outter areas, horse speed is maintained.

in this game, things got alot worse as i described above, at least revert the behavior to Origins, as now its so bad, i hope my message is clear and Ubisoft would patch this.

I noticed that horses are slow in Odyssey compared to Origins.

I was just saying...

lots of things have changed in AC:O based on feedback on forums like this one, i have seen alot of complaints about this and im hoping this one would be noticed similar to ones that came for AC:O and patched.

yeah man here we are 6 months later.. derp
horse speed triggers me every time

Welp, Warlord was right: Just another not-gonna-change response from Ubisoft.

Damn, and here I was all hopeful that the horse speed around towns/settlements/forts would be increased. It's still slow-as-sh*t and still pisses me off.

Oh well.
The Father Mar 26, 2019 @ 10:29am
since people revived this and no action has been taken from Ubisfot so far, so this is a message for Devs:

Dear Devs, why do i have to use a mod to unlock horse speed?! the mod works perfect and doesnt break anything in the game, also it unlocks the speed in towns as well.

Thus its an easy thing to configure in game code and would take just a little effort to do it, so why we have to use mods instead of you giving us an option?! if you dont want to add it in the UI, just add a config entry in the ini file and we can switch it on similar to what you did in Syndicate to unlock Clothing Physics.

as i said in OP, people have been complaining about horse speed in cities since AC:Brotherhood and it didnt get patched nor corrected in any later AC games, in this game, it got worse by reducing the speed around cities, forts and camps, im not sure who is behind this decision but definitely he needs to listen to feedback and remove this stupid behavior.
