Concerns about the map size

It is said that this map is the biggest ever in the AC franchise, but does it really feel like it? I am just getting started with the game, level 13 and still in Megaride. But when I look at the map I see a lot of empty space, and that worries me, because I really loved Origins map, it was beautiful and full of varied environments, but this one looks like lots of sea.
What made me open this thread is the north part of the map. I HATE it that they made that huge chunk of the map actually unavailable. Why did they create a game map with all that unavailable space, so that you can look at ait and think to yourself: I would love to go there, even if it was just empty nature, but I would love to go there, just my horse and me and a few animals. Either open the map or remove it from the menu.
Just had to say it, because I loved Origins and don't want to feel disappointed.

this game is relatively new, the unaccessible parts of the game might be used for dlc/updates for later.

there is already more than enough 'space' to explore. If they had 'cut off' the top left corner the map wouldn't be a square. who really cares anyhow?

all the islands aren't there that actually exist, nor do we get to see all of the different league members on both sides. nevermind that we actually dont get to interact with a couple of the most important and integral city-states that caused the war and ended it.

Dont worry, the map is huge...like really huge

Yep, there are some locked areas, probably for DLCs
Not really a problem, there are more than enough land (and sea...) to play around

Yeah, I hope it ends up being like Black Flag. I was also confused the first time I played that game, but after a while I came to enjoy it and they way sailing felt. And I might be wrong, because I don't remember that one very well, but I feel like Odyssey is more seamless than Black Flag, and that makes it more natural. I don't know why, it's just a feeling.
