The Erymanthian Boar quest is a broken f-ing mess

In the hunting quests for the sisters of Artemis, encountering the second boar in the set (as in the title the Erymanthian Boar) and it is stupidly broken.
Best I can figure you have to either choose between not attacking and avoiding it's charge, or being hit for a chance to hit it with a shot. Which is a bad enough design WITHOUT taking into consideration that more than half the time your arrows miss because the boars erratic movements (ok i suppose) and worse off it's broken f-ing hitbox that counts what should be an obvious hit as a miss. Meanwhile trying to dodge it's charge is just as broken.
AND that isn't even getting into it's BS gas attack which simply leaves an area unusable with poison gas....

I haven't reached this fight so I can't personally verify this but... a friend told me that the Tier 3 Second Wind ability nullifies poison gas, so then you're able to take on the boar. I'm gonna skip this fight until I've levelled up the spear to 5 and can unlock Tier 3 abilities.

That seems a good plan, but as per my rant, that's only like a quater of the problems with fight

get a heavy wep or a spear ye he hit hard and he will spawn 3-5 smaller ones

That, i beleive is the Kalydonian Boar, which is an annoying fight but not completely broken. The Erymanthian Boar is a different fight

go to settings and change your game to easy, thats what i did for the mission

what difficulty are you playing on? Would be good to know, since I had no problems at all with the fight, shot one arrow, dodged like ♥♥♥♥, shot an arrow, repeat. Took a couple minutes, then the ugly farting boar went down.

dodge towards it in an angled way, so you miss it just exactly. You get atleast 2 free hits, and you can get some shots with your bow in

i did all of these on nightmare using that strat btw haha

i just finished this quest yesterday. what i did was when you first enter the arena fire 2 charged death arrows at it to chunk its health then just hit it with your sword and dodge to the right.

Fight poison with poison. And Devastating Shot when available.
If you roll instead of dodging, it's far easier to avoid its charge.

If you can beat the Kalydonian Boar, you can beat this one too.


My experience with this one was on Hard.

Out of sheer annoyance i've dropped it to easy.... which doesn't help, because even still most all of my shot don't hit and dodging is still only working half the time.
Devestating shot doesn't help BECAUSE MOST OF THE SHOTS MISS

Yea, those two boars are the strongest enemies in the game. Maybe it's because they have broken hitbox. But still it's 100% the strongest enemy in the game.
