How do I upgrade the spear?

Says there's an upgrade available but cant figure how to do it

Have to go to the Forgotten island, i believe it was called that something like the first icon near the beginning on that small island next to the first zone

But the upgrading area isn't that one specifically it just has the same symbol on the map which is in the center of the map on the other side of the large island mass

After the first time in the story you can just fast travel directly into the forge with that triangle symbol on the map.

thats why its called the forgotten forge, nobody remembers it after passing thru during the main quest
