well, i love the look of my helmet, my sword and the rest of my gear so i do upgrade. But except of the helmet, the sowrd and maybe the hip piece my gear is replaceable as soon as i find another purple one of that pieces but if i do not in time i upgrade that too just to keep the look. :)
Upgraded this full set I have like literally 5 seconds after I hit 50

Once you get good engravings. What does make sense is to upgrade the engravings. This upgrade becomes available on the 21st, 31st, 41st etc. levels. For it is at 21, 31, etc where the engravings receive one more tick in their value.
For example upgrade a sword with good engravings at level 29 to 30 and only the tiny amount of weapon damage increases. Upgrade the same sword from level 29 to 31, it will cost the same. Weapon damage increases. And all the engravings native to the weapon increase a tick. The sword has suddenly become much better, and well worth the price paid.
This is not so very interesting with weak engravings. It is very important with the best engravings.
Necro-necroposting. That's a whole new level of necroing!
