Modern Day Story Pointless Now
I feel that these games would do just fine if they ditched the modern day story arc. This makes new players confused, and I have played all the games except Unity. I think as stand alones these games would do just as well. I actually hate when they cut to the modern day characters. I also feel the Assassin's vs Templar thing is over played and boring now. It feels like beating a dead horse, and it can only go so far.

I think that the new Pirate game Ubisoft is doing with the AC ship combats and engine will be a step in the right direction.

To know what is going on you need to play/read/watch the following:

Assassin's Creed
Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles
Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines
Assassin's Creed II
Assassin's Creed II: Discovery
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Assassin's Creed III
Assassin's Creed III: Liberation
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
Assassin's Creed: Pirates
Assassin's Creed: Freedom Cry
Assassin's Creed: Rogue
Assassin's Creed Identity
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: India
Assassin's Creed Chronicles: Russia
Assassin's Creed Origins
Assassin's Creed Odyssey

you should maybe find a different game series that works better for you then.

Yeah it sounds like you just need a new series

this is basically equivalent to suggesting that the avengers movies would be better if they didn't have super powers.

or if Westworld would kindly remove all scenes outside of the park, any plot progression whatsoever and simply just feature the man in black assaulting people for 60 minutes of the episode.

So utterly ridiculous its almost comical

There is a reason the last two games have optional modern day content, or only a few minutes... It's t he reason people stopped buying the games year after year or twice a year, too much stuff to drop 60 dollars a pop on.

But this game isnt Assassins vs Templars, they did cut that.

Its literally Athenians vs Spartans. You're not even an assassin, you're an ex-Spartan Merc.

You also cut out of the animus literally only 4 times. You'll put in 20 hours before your first cut out of the animus.

Except in this you dont.
I played AC1, 2 and 3.

Never touched any of the others. I knew there were gods because of AC2 and 3, but didnt know the whole backstory about the Izu and Eden and what not. I figured that all out pretty easily playing Odyssey. Its not hard to figure out the old gods were a precurser race, and the modern people of today think of them as gods.

I think it is at a nice middle where the games themselves are stand alone enough for new players (or players who skipped a ton of them when they started to get repetitive), but they still have an ongoing story for those hardcore fans to continue to follow.

They have a bit of a shared universe thing going on at least between Assassin's Creed and Watch_Dogs via Assassin's Creed's modern day parts. So I think if they took the time to fully explain whatever the plan is (or was) for this shared universe and how it all connects we who are newer would be a lot more excited for the Modern Day bits.

the modern day part is a key element of the AC series, it is one of the constants which is in every AC game regardless if it is flashed out or just through voice overs. It is a fundamental part of what AC is, you never played Altair or Ezio or Conner or Kassandra or Alexios, you always played the person who used the animus in the modern world.

and your claim that this is the reason why people stopped buying the games is more a assumption than based on hard facts.

Your comment shows the lack of knowledge you have in the game series. odyssey is about the rise of the Assassin's to fight The Templars, aka Abstergo aka the cult of Kosmos. Layla is a new character introduced in Origins because Desmond is dead. She find's his father to rebuild the Assassins. The very beginning of the game she even says that the artifacts will bring power to the Assassin's again. Every game is about the Assassins, Templar, both, etc... Odyssey is no exception. It is the origin story of The Templar and the artifacts and the rebirth of the conflcts between the Assassin's and the Templar.

Izu weren't gods but a race of beings on Earth who created humans, and your character is a decendant from the hybrid of Izu and Humans. Humans are so primative that they saw them as gods, however the technology they had would destroy humankind if it isn't protected. Thus saving humanity from itself. The assassins from the previous game are in a lot of the games, like Desmond, who died saving the world in the first couple of games is in Origins.

I feel like OP. It's just useless, the Game itself is awesome, and the Modern Day part's are, atleast for me boring and totally crash the Game experience for me. I dropped already 3 times out of the Animus and everytime i instantly saved and closed the Game because these Modern Day stuff is just annoying , boring and useless, i mean, where is the Point of this at all? Tomb Raider or Indiana Jones for poor People? Odyssey and Origins would still be awesome without this, and i am 100% sure nobody would even notice if this stuff would be missing. This Modern Day stuff wont fit very well, and the fact that it is this rare in the Game and extremly forgotable just shows how useless it is. Honestly, i dont even know what the Point behind this is, i cant even remember what they were talking about the last time.

It seems that lots of people do enjoy the modern interludes so I think you maybe just have to accept that it's okay to not like every single thing about a game. I thought it was cool to go back to Atlantis as Layla, thousands of years in the future. .

NOTHING will top the red-hot hatred people had for the FORCED Bliss bullet garbage in Far Cry 5. Omg, I'm starting to sweat just thinking about it. That was the absolute worst part of that game and has single-handedly kept me from replaying it.

Nice that you blacked out Spoiler's, very polite of you.
Ofcourse there are People who like it, but i seems like even Ubisoft isnt interested in this anymore, i mean, just look at Odyssey and then at like AC1 - Black Flag there this happen pretty regular in Comparsion.
I think it seems like that Ubisoft is more Interested in creating a Regular RPG because Odyssey is a very good and fun RPG, it has not much depth into it, but damn is this Game fun even while be so repitetive, while they just slammed this Animus stuff in, i mean, just Imagine the Game without this Animus stuff, would you miss it? Would you even notice that it is missing? I mean, Odyssey has it's own plot and explains already everything and then comes the Animus with stuff i am not Interested in, Characters i dont know and again i am not Interested in and they are talking about stuff that is either not related to the Game like Assassins and Templar, or repeat stuff i already did or will do, there is really no Point of these scenes besides that they can call this Game an Assassins Creed. But that is just my Opinion.
