or if Westworld would kindly remove all scenes outside of the park, any plot progression whatsoever and simply just feature the man in black assaulting people for 60 minutes of the episode.
So utterly ridiculous its almost comical

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Its literally Athenians vs Spartans. You're not even an assassin, you're an ex-Spartan Merc.
You also cut out of the animus literally only 4 times. You'll put in 20 hours before your first cut out of the animus.
Except in this you dont.
I played AC1, 2 and 3.
Never touched any of the others. I knew there were gods because of AC2 and 3, but didnt know the whole backstory about the Izu and Eden and what not. I figured that all out pretty easily playing Odyssey. Its not hard to figure out the old gods were a precurser race, and the modern people of today think of them as gods.
They have a bit of a shared universe thing going on at least between Assassin's Creed and Watch_Dogs via Assassin's Creed's modern day parts. So I think if they took the time to fully explain whatever the plan is (or was) for this shared universe and how it all connects we who are newer would be a lot more excited for the Modern Day bits.
and your claim that this is the reason why people stopped buying the games is more a assumption than based on hard facts.
Izu weren't gods but a race of beings on Earth who created humans, and your character is a decendant from the hybrid of Izu and Humans. Humans are so primative that they saw them as gods, however the technology they had would destroy humankind if it isn't protected. Thus saving humanity from itself. The assassins from the previous game are in a lot of the games, like Desmond, who died saving the world in the first couple of games is in Origins.
Ofcourse there are People who like it, but i seems like even Ubisoft isnt interested in this anymore, i mean, just look at Odyssey and then at like AC1 - Black Flag there this happen pretty regular in Comparsion.
I think it seems like that Ubisoft is more Interested in creating a Regular RPG because Odyssey is a very good and fun RPG, it has not much depth into it, but damn is this Game fun even while be so repitetive, while they just slammed this Animus stuff in, i mean, just Imagine the Game without this Animus stuff, would you miss it? Would you even notice that it is missing? I mean, Odyssey has it's own plot and explains already everything and then comes the Animus with stuff i am not Interested in, Characters i dont know and again i am not Interested in and they are talking about stuff that is either not related to the Game like Assassins and Templar, or repeat stuff i already did or will do, there is really no Point of these scenes besides that they can call this Game an Assassins Creed. But that is just my Opinion.
