how to farm obsidian

i've been playing for a while now and it\s a pain to try and keep my legendary gear upgraded as i can never seem to get a lot of obsidian glass, any recommendations would be appreciated i've tried blacksmiths and conquest battles but the battles only give me 16 obsidian and the smith rarely has it.

btw i'm level 38

You might want to change your armor set while you don't have a full one, when you get the last part of a set it will scale to your level, so you shouldn't worry about it at all, do not sell the items you get and just dismantle them, it should be enough by the time you reach level 50

Just keep playing and scrapping gear you don't want. You'll end up with tons of it. I'm at the level cap, with a fair bit of story to go, and have just shy of 4000 obsidian. Higher tier enemies can drop it, like fort polemarchs and region leaders, but really, you're better off just playing naturally and getting it from breaking down gear.

Theydon's correct. Best way. I never upgrade any of my gear. When I loot gear (and I loot EVERYTHING, corpses, chests, all of it) I just wear what ever piece is best, and the rest I dismantle. I only keep Epic (gold) gear. Normals, blues and purples I dismantle them if they are not better than what I am wearing. Upgrading is pretty much pointless until closer to the end anyway, You'll always loot something with better protection. And all that dismantling, I have Obsidian, gems, leather, all of it just stuffing my pack. Only thing I upgrade as I go is my ship. Once you get various full sets of gold, put on the full set of which ever one you like best, and then work on upgrading just that set.

The gold gear you can't dismantle, you can only sell. But I don't bother selling it because cash is way too easy to make. By the end, you'll have quite a few full sets of epic to coose from.

I wouldn't bother upgrading the gear for every other level I've gained if I were you. Just go with whatever you have picked up till at least level 35.

Origins was extremely easy on the players with the upgrading materials but it isn't the case for Odyssey anymore

i've been doing all your suggestions from the start of the game and i barely ever seem to have amy obisidian. i have full legendary gear and dismantle every piece of equpment i come across but when i get enough obsidian to upgrade 1 or 2 pieces of equipment my lowest pieces of armour end up 5 to 10 levels lower.
i will try going to the volcanic isles and see if that helps me, any specific areas you can think of?

i've noticed in large fights the gear makes a huge difference as i have been noticing they just chunk away at my health when my gear isn't up to snuff that might just be because i'm playing on hard though

I play on nightmare, and I use all blue gear or purple gear just fine. Legendary are pointless and upgrading them is massive resource sink that isn't worth the effort. I never upgrade anything, just pickup and use whatever new gear you have and you'll be fine. The only thing worth upgrading in this game is your ship.

Did they remove the obsidian rewards from the battle fights?
I cant upgrade any of my legendary stuff since there is never enough obsidian, all i can do is buying it from the smith when its there but most times thre isnt any to buy.
Realy smart move from those capitalists..
Lower the rewards in a Game full of myth stuff, like if there would be any logic about it.
I will never buy anything again from the ubi store !

Last I checked, for the maximum damage, you need the purple (epic?) items as they scale more damage but have less abilities that legendaries have

either way, theres so much armor and weapons dropped, who would wanna upgrade.

Well you can upgrade if you prefer the effects of a given set. Also, after you are done with your ship, there is literally no other purpose for your ressources anymore so why not upgrade gear.

Buy all obsidian you will find at any black smith, do NOT crack down gear, since its a huge money waste.
The cheapest blue gear you will crack down in order to get obsidian, is still more worth than the 2 obsidian you will get out of them.
Do the Athens wall run 1-2 times, loot all weapons from the raks and sell them so you will have enough money for to buy obsidian and for to upgrade your gear.
Also buy all hide you can get from a black smith, you wont be able to hunt that much prey to have enough hide for to upgrade your gear.

Pick 1 legendary set and two weapons and upgrade them - I keep some of my legendary gear in storage and when/if I ever need another gear set (for whatever reason) I will equip the whole set and upgrade it as I can.

I am currently at level 65
I wear the Achilles legendary set (upgraded to level 64)
I hold Prometheus's Sika as my main weapon (sword) it has lots of fire dmg/buildup and I have enhanced it with +15% dmg using swords
I also carry the Mallet of Everlasting Flame enhanced with -1 adrenaline cost for over power abilities
My bow is Hades's Bow with +5 crit chance (all arrows become fire arrows is awesome)

I focus on crit whenever I am able and am rocking over 36% crit ATM.

I kill up to level 69 assassins/bounty hunters from a distance and with a fair bit of ease - they two shot me if they get to close though :-)

My abilities tree has warrior capped out - I do not have any point sin Bull Rush or Charged Heavy Attack - the rest are capped

10 ability points in assassin and 7 in hunter

I have upgraded the Achilles set since I got the first 2 pieces and I STILL have over 1200 obsidian, 8K glass, 32 ancient tablets, 16K wood, 11K Iron and 14K leather

I do not find it difficult to gather these things as I loot everything no matter how small, I pick wood and rocks as I travel, I have done the Athens wall moocho times and find it a waste of time now...
