Assassin's Creed Odyssey

Statistiche:
Update on AVX Support
**UPDATE OCT 8**: We can confirm that the AVX related update will be rolled out with the next patch. We'll be able to share more details later this week.

Hey everyone,

We’ve been actively monitoring player reports about PC crashes and want to take a moment to provide you with an update on this.

First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who got in touch with us via the various channels to provide additional information. Thanks to your support, we were able to identify the common cause of a few instances of reported crashes: the impacted CPUs didn’t support AVX – more details below.

We heard your feedback and are now actively working on a solution to extend the supported CPUs for our players to be able to run Assassin’s Creed Odyssey without AVX support, within the minimum requirements.
As this is an ongoing process, we are not able to provide an ETA just yet, but rest assured this is a high priority for us and we will keep you updated on the progress.

Let’s go through a the questions that we’ve been seeing lately.

What is ‘AVX’ and why does Assassin’s Creed Odyssey need AVX support?
AVX stands for Advanced Vertex Extensions and essentially is a list of CPU commands. We’re using AVX because those commands are able to do some vector operations faster. With AVX we are able to get additional performance from the game.

Which CPUs are not supported at release?
It wouldn`t be possible to list exhaustively all the CPUs not supported. The most common processors [without AVX support] used by you are First Generation Intel Core i3,i5,i7, Pentium G and some Intel Xeon processors.
For more details on the supported CPUs, please refer to the {COLLEGAMENTO RIMOSSO} article.

What are the system requirements for ACOD?
You can find the updated system requirements list {COLLEGAMENTO RIMOSSO}.
They were updated to answer more in details the recent questions on PC requirements.

I bought the game and my PC doesn`t meet the minimum requirements, what can I do?
If you purchased the game on the Ubisoft Store please reach out to {COLLEGAMENTO RIMOSSO} or get in touch with your retailer.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

Thank you for working to address this. Will you update this thread with an expected ETA?

Absolutely, yes! As soon as we have more details we'll share them! :)
man, I hope it's not one of those "when is ready" updates, cause if it takes like month to deliver I just might lose my interest to play the game
Appreciate the response, UbiQuB3. I'll hold on to the game until the patch comes out. I was intending to return it today because some of the support staff indicated that there were no plans to create a patch. I'm really glad to hear otherwise, Odyssey is the 8th Assassin's Creed game I've purchased from Ubisoft.
Will Extending the Support to those Older CPUs mean you guys are gonna remove those AVX commands? thus degrading performance on the newer CPUs?

Hopefully they use a branching code path with software emulation for the older CPUs.

That said I can’t imagine people without AVX support expect their CPUs to handle this game. I’m imagining 20 FPS on low at 900p.

Xbox One supports AVX-256 (2013). Developers should not be expected to support beyond the recent generation of consoles for AAA games.

A 5-9 year old CPU is probably dragging down GPU performance by that much. Also it most likely only has 2 cores, and this game runs a ton of threads. Welcome to context switching Hell and %steal on your CPU.

That's good news... I'll eagerly await the patch... My i7 980/nvidia 1080 runs modern games just fine, so I'm betting performance will be do-able (I don't go 4K of course).... Thanks!

Depends on what you expect out of the AI as well. My 7800X uses all twelve logical cores around 50% with spikes to 100%. Even at 4K there are CPU bound game moments for me. Over clocking to 4.1GHz helped a little, but not much.

You’ll likely have performance somewhere around first gen Xbox One.

You card will be limited by you CPU.

dude, this game is almost same as origins and origins ran 50 fps on pentium g4620+gtx1050ti high/ultra setting easy

That means nothing as you have not mentioned your resolution. It’s also quite a bit more threads running then origin and way more geometry/details.

Also that’s a 2017 processor and Kaby Lake supports AVX

Well, I'm glad that I didn't buy this game.
I don't understand.
I played AC Origins in May, without problem.

Why are you exclude CPU without avx?
Why are you wrote about this only 3rd day the game comes out?

I'm not much hurry, but i am very sorry

Actually pentium processors do not have avx. I have the same setup gtx 1050 ti ssc g462o pentium. I can run it on high 1080 p at 35 fps usually if I drop to 720 p around 45 50 fps.

Appreciate the update and will check back on the game once the non-AVX support update is live.
