What are the purple symbols with the X in the middle surrounded by oak leaves?

I've seen these in some fortresses and did a mission to kill a spartan soldier and there was a stack of boxes in his camp that had this symbol.
Can't seem to interact with it though?

What do the symbols mean? I'm still pretty early in the game on the Journey into War quest. Is this something I learn about later?

They're war supplies, you burn them with your torch (by either hitting with the torch or throwing the torch at it) they will weaken the ruling faction when you destory them, destory enough and the leader off the faction becomes easier to kill and if ruling power is low enough it will trigger a conquest battle

You can loot those boxes usually and try a fire arrow afterwards. If you are pretty early in the game go near a fire with your bow to get the arrow burning. The boxes are part of the objectives in many areas so you will see quite a lot of those. Hehe just saw chibi's post and got lvl 30 without ever trying the torch.

be sure to loot them before you burn them though or else you're just wasting a bunch of good resources.

Why would you bother finding a fire to light your arrow when you can just equip the torch and throw it at the box?

Just edited my post about the torch. Probably never tried it because it took me some time to notice i have to keep pressing t to light a torch.

Because sometimes you can shoot the supplies from afar without needing to get near them.
Depends on your playstyle. I like to go in , achieve all objectives and get out without being seen or killing anyone i dont have to.

On the other hand, I found accidentally the stupidest way, I burned myself and while I was on fire I touched those crates :)

Lol. About 10 minutes after I posted I got the explaination about war supplies, leaders, ect.
Didn't even think to try burning the boxes when I found them.
