Can/should I do all the side content after the main story?
Please no spoilers or hints on the main storyline.

I've played about 10 hours and while I think the game is great, I'm quickly running into the same problem I have with almost every open world game: I want to do all the optional side-quests, but it ruins the main story pacing for me.

It just kills the pacing. It just doesn't make sense to stop whatever urgent thing I'm doing in the main quest to go do a heap of random quests that aren't related to the main character's core goal.

So, yeah, without spoiling anything, would it be a good idea to just hammer away at the main quest and leave all these other sidequests and optional content until after? I basically did this in Origins, where I just travelled around mopping up everything afterwards.

Some tie in, read what the quest is about before you do it. Also, after side quests or conquest battles and some other story stuff you will get impact quests (The ones with arrows pointing different ways) and they change things in the world.

Some side quests are disabled once you progress too far into the main story.
One example is the shark quest you get from a spartan.

Oh, yeah. I forgot they have the little descriptions. Thanks for reminding me. I'll make sure to do the ones that make sense.

@Ouroboros - I don't really want to read what you've hidden behind that spoiler tag, but can you just say whether or not disabled sidequests get enabled again?

so you do like me: complete the map THEN main story in one swoop
havent really started odyssey yet but ive rushed the story of origins and in one swoop thats how I can tell it wasnt that great cuz most of the thing happening didnt make sense with what i just did or I could see the plot miles away

Wait, so are you saying you do all the optional stuff and then the main story afterwards?

Man, I don't think that way would be for me.

try what u prefer but personnally enjoying everything the game has to offer before giving a chance to the "story" seems fair bcause story is part of the game but lets be real you spent 100$ for speaking to someone or SPARTAN KICK that mfka in the sky?

The quest i put in the spoilers hasnt been re-activated from what I can tell. I could be wrong, but I don't think they get activated again.
Someone correct me if I am wrong please lol.

But I've only come across 2-3 quests that did this, and if you Quick Save often like I do,(F5), then it isnt a problem at all. Just hit F9 and it loads your last save, giving u a chance to complete the quest before you progress :)
Hope this helps.

Edit; I Quick Save before I talk to a quest npc/get near the area

Gotcha. Yeah, I'm going to just focus on the main story and do quests that look like they tie in when I can.

In a cutscene, Alexios said three times in a row what he wants to do next. Would seem so weird now if instead he went and hunted bandits and did little minor missions.

In AC Origins and Odyssey I treat each region as it's own mission activity period, where I try to do all the side quests for any given region first then do the Main Story Mission(s) for that region and then move on. That provides leveling/upgrades prior to doing story missions. With Odyssey's auto-level scheme, that probably doesn't matter here.

Playting that way is not always feasible since some missions send you to far away places into new regions, so it gets messy at times. But in general I try to do all side activities first leaving story until last (per region) unless it makes sense to switch up in some way. Yes that does break up the Main Story progression across play-time, but I am ok with that most times.

Yes because they expire.

Yeah, that's pretty much how I usually play these sorts of games. I guess I'm just sorta getting sick of that approach to be honest.

The problem with Origins and now Oddyssey is that there is just too much. There's like a million sidequests and even more ?'s to discover and complete. I'm a completionist too, so this is overwhelming me.

Okay, I read that spoiler. Are these the quests that have the hourglass icons beside them? I thought they were like random, repeatable quests.
