Like a true merc, I support whom pays better... But when the dust settles, Sparta. Classic Red vs Blue, where the Red are tough, and the Blue are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... Nothing ever changes.

This is why we need more book adaptations of games. I feel like Game industry writers and hollywood are out of ideas. The universe of independant fiction is an untapped well. Look at the witcher.

the hero of sparta armor looks dope, and gives a 20% bonus to all weapon damage...so id say sparta for first play through, unless you want the hero of athens armor that gives a 20% bonus to hunter damage

not to spoil to much but "gaurd" got sparta kick style to his dead from the cliff....
irony is high in this game. (did around 15.000 damage on his ass)

While Spartans are cool and all, having read about their culture, i can't support them.

I'm too hedonistic for that.
Killing their own babies was actually a thing.
Only and best child raising method was to beat them black and blue.
Only crime is being caught.

Well game is made on those myths, but well archeologists never confirm that there were baby bones under that cliff, there were human bones yes but their number suested just some unlucky guys who fell or maybe murder/suicide could be thing too, but no massive baby throwing, also agoge wasnt just beating kids so they knew how to fight and pain, they were thought literature, mathematic, strategy, philosophy and other, it was basicly military school, also women had basicly same rights like men

This guy knows, he's OG Spartan and even fought in the Trojan War. He told me that most of the stories we heard were made up later to avoid deep embarassment from both sides since it was actually fought over a Twinkie.

Not politically and they also were not in the military. And we are only talking about Spartan woman, the thousands of woman who lived in Sparta but were not citizens had no rights just like their men.

Also the thing with the babies can have multiple reasons from which some can mean that it did not happen and some not.

True, Spartan women didn't have the same political or military power as Spartiates, but they certainly had the same, if not more power, in Spartan society as men, which stemmed from the way their inheritence laws worked. Spartan women usually had more land and money than their male counter parts, which gave them a lot of leverage in society.

As for the men and women who weren't citizens in Sparta and had next to no rights, that's true, but the same can be said there for most of the Greek world (and most of the world at large in general). A Greek's identity was tied to their city.

that is also true but as far as i know sparta was a special case in that regard because of the significantly lower ammount of citizens compared to other city states. :)

Well it doesn't matter who you support since even without your action, regions will change hand, even for regions you helped capture or defend. So I always chose the attacker side.

I won area for sparta then for athens and now again for sparta still in one area - infinite circle :D but I have full pockets :D
