Sparta kick useless against lvl 20+ mercs?
Is there just some arbitrary merc level limit where the Sparta kick stops working or is there something I can do to affect it?
By "stops working" I mean they seem to completely absorb the impact. They just get stunned for like half a second and don't get pushed back at all.
I'm playing on hard if that matters.

Fully upgraded some mercs can absorb the hit and get stunned or for the most part with a fully loaded kick they will get nocked back, As spartan kicking is the main tool to nock them out to recruit them so it's going to for the most part nock them down, If your in your 20s then odds are you don't have it fully upgraded.

No, it is not. I used "THIS IS SPARTA!!!" some 40 times to kill a lvl 43 enemy when I was lvl 20 (btw, the cliff was not big and he was taking little damage from each fall) while playing on Nightmare and heavy, where previous enemies follow my lvl as I lvl up.

This is not useless, but need to be used properly, better to throw people off cliffs . . you know, like at the movie . . .

This is not insanity, THIS IS SPARTA!!!

Ifg it knock the mercs back (even those that stand the kick), if the merc is properly placed behind a high cliff . . well, guess what happen next?? :)

I dont remember to have that much problem with the mercs on lvl 20 and I already had fights against 4 mercs at the same time . . . usually it goes 1 of the same lvl or 1 under, 1 a bit above, 1 more above and 1 much above, most of the times with a red sign or even skull, these I need to either throw off cliffs or avoid taking damage at all costs, charge my "hitkill" attack and go for it at each moment possible . . or try to get lost, get behind, deal "assassin damage" (that will deal little damage), and repeat (quite a long hunting . . but sometimes these guys drop interesting weapons).

1 exploit, they dont go to water (sea), so they dont hunt you there . . if things get too hard, water feels so cheap as they "lose sight of you", including the skull ones, so you can deal the assassin damage, get back to water, repeat . . . but is boring af.

So does upgrading the sparta kick increase the chances it sets them flying? It just says it increases damage.

Well yes, kicking people off cliffs is obviously the best use for the kick. It was by far the most powerful move in the game up until it seemingly stopped working for me.

I'll try to test it some more the next time I play, but from what I can tell it seems they don't even take a step back... They just like hold their stomach for a second.

If something like that happen, find an "exploitable location" (read my other reply above) and exploit them to death.
Sometimes it is very rewarding.

Upgrading the kick does increase the impact and damage of the kick, But at moderate to higher leveled enemies and difficulty it will not send them flying like crazy, Only a few feet or so, If you want to recruit a lot of mercs then the kick is your best friend, Etc kick when their health is low to recruit and or kick them into a burning bush etc it's situational if your trying to score a kill but amazing at nocking everything out to recruit them.

I can defeat enemies just fine, I'm just sad that the kick doesn't seem to be useful anymore.

My only problem is not being able kick mercs off cliffs :P
Recruitment isn't the problem.
But yeah I'll try to upgrade it to see if that helps.

OK upgraded the kick to level 2. Mercs are around level 30 now.
The kick does nothing, but stun them for a second. They don't even take a step back. No matter how close to the edge they are, they do not fly off.

I'll report back when I get it to level 3, but seems I was more or less right in that it's pretty much useless, besides the ability to take out enemies nonlethally.
Though I suppose it's still a fun against normal enemies since it works there.

I stopped using it because everytime I'd try to kick someone LITERALLY STANDING ON THE EDGE they'd just "oof" then enrage at me. I really wish there was some sort of insight you could use "this dudes gonna lol ur kick so don't bother". A shame because it's fun ... when it actually works.

Have someone else watching you try to oof someone by kicking in the butt to have yourself being oofed . . . you will not need to ask if it was fun or not to watch because he will be laughing for the next few minutes.
