This thing is not AC
This could be a brilliant stand alone game. Or a good Prince of Persia

It is AC, you should play the game to the end and see just how much it ties in.

just because of the last 5 min ties in does not mean its AC.

they could make a doom clone where you kill pink demons with a hidden blade and name it assassin's creed... why do you care so much?

It takes place in the AC universe, it focuses on the first civilization and it has the modern day assassins which uses the animus, that is more than enough to call it assassins creed.

AC is way more than assassins in the past, it is a fictional universe with thousands of years of history even before the assassin brotherhood existed and there is absolutely no reason to not make games in that times too. (like odyssey)

BTW, OP, these cultist talks about "canon-non-canon" looks stupid. Do you mean it's Skyrim or Doom or World of Warcraft?

This is my first AC game and it's definitely doesn't look like Tomb Raider, Anthem, Ghost Recon: Wildlands, DOTA, For Honor or any other game I've seen - so it must be AC.

Plz don't bring your religious ♥♥♥♥♥ into games.

haha

oh no this is your first AC game which is not an AC... I also just saw somewhere you have a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ flying horse in this game WTFFFFF.

it is not really flying, it just has wing animations and dont take fall demage but other than that it is a normal horse.

both of those horses with wings are not part of the main game, they are content from the games ingame shop.

anyway that is not the first time in ACs history that the simulation gets manipulated to have things which were not really there.

If any of you played every single AC like me then you probably understand what this man want to tell.

I have played all of them.. but I don't think (for me) it's game play alone that defines a game. For me the story is related to the whole ac universe so it counts as an AC game.

Again everyone is allowed to have their opinion. I don't agree with OP. Doesn't mean I say it is wrong either.

Flying horse is just a skin and not part of the story. Doesn't fly anyway.

this, i am looking at the games from a universe perspective, not a gameplay perspective.

i have played every AC game available on pc except of liberation and the chronicle ones.

I bought it and Origins particularly because its not an AC game.

I didnt like AC 1, 2 and 3, I prefer the way they've gone with Origins which has evolved into Odyssey. But hey, to each their own.

So your complaint is this game has too much silly stuff for an AC game? I've only played AC Unity, and I've seen plenty of silly stuff in that, i.e. the main character is from 1700-1800's, yet he dodges modern-day trains in a subway station, and doesn't say even say a word about it, as if it's totally normal for him.

The thing is that Ubisoft adopt similar mechanics or the way things are presented across most of their IPs, so for those of us that have been gaming for a long time we know that for example Far Cry and Assassin's Creed used to be vastly different franchises, now there's so many similarities and sharing of mechanics/systems between the two that it's quickly becoming a case of well they're different because one is first person and the other is third person. Ubi have just become super formulaic over time.
