As for me I did NG+ to try a new build, and that character has gone up about ten levels while the Wolf has been waiting on his cliff for about a month of game time.
Having so many character points meant I could increase the difficulty to nightmare with no problem. I can immediately enjoy the Hunter playstyle of walking up to someone, whistling to get their attention then shooting them in the face when they turn around, most amusing.
It also allows me to play the way I want to from the start of the game. My stealth and combat skills are such that, even playing on hard difficulty, I can can be fairly confident in myself when tackling challenges and it allows me to be a little more brazen (though, since I'm playing on Hard, that has gotten me killed a few times).
