That's what I was thinking.
For me assassin is the most fun way to play this game so I was just like let's max it out.
At a certain point though, there is not much point still piling on the damage, it becomes "overkill".
It would be possible to get higher numbers with some other engravings, but it becomes a bit silly. Then the focus is more on quality of life.
This character has few abilities so you can turn off the HUD and do super fast crazy fort clearances just running up to everyone and throwing the spear through them, even polemarchs. (Hard difficulty from the start for this character.) You don't need to worry about which ability wheel is up or if you have enough adrenaline.
However if you get caught in open combat you do have to think because of low armor and health, so not everything is a walkover.
Great game Ubi, must be in my top ten or so for hours played.
If you're going heavy into assassination style, "Legacy of the First Blade" DLC helps a lot. One, there's a new skill which hides the body of anybody you kill with an assassination (including rush assassination), which can save a lot of time; two, there's a legendary sword which provides an engraving which makes rush assassination chain to one more target.
My infiltration/assassination-focused loadout (*) only has ~+289% assassination damage, but 100% crits at full health for +702% damage, plus +30% armor penetration damage w/ hero strike, +1 rush assassination target, and -40% adrenaline cost for Shadow of Nyx, and (currently, but will probably replace at some point) vanish intoxicating enemies.
(*) The same set of skills and masteries is used for multiple styles (infiltrator/assassin, hunter, regular warrior, tank warrior, and a wildcard slot that tends to be warrior-ish but may vary a lot depending on e.g. weekly challenges). I don't respec ability points, just swap gear. Hence, this isn't absolutely min-maxed in terms of *that*.
Like I said you get to a point where you can get anyone with a normal assassination and there is simply no point trying to get the damage any higher. Even the boss battles are too short! Then you may as well go for other stuff that makes life easier. Also I kind of put some effort into having a non-transmog armor set just for my own amusement. Today I got some sliver Mercenary-set greaves with the same stats that match a tiny bit better, I was happy. So to some extent I just take what I can find in terms of engravings.
That thing where the bodies disappear was actually one reason I didn't buy the first DLC. I actually like having to think about hiding bodies sometimes! (Not to sound like a psycho or anything.)
I also tweaked some of the mastery points and put together a full hunter outfit. No fire or poison just 100% crit and extra bow damage for synergy with the other outfit. Any elemental damage would be wimpy since I can't focus on it.
It's pretty seamless, normal bow shots hitting for up to 500k.
I added Devastating Shot but still the Artemis traps are tricky to use, they don't do much damage even with that 50k hunter outfit, pretty much you have to blow someone off a ledge.
One is "Convert 50% Assassin Damage bonuses to All Damage" which gets rid of your disadvantage in open combat.
The other is "Assassin Damage applies to Nearby Enemies" which procs on each of the hits for Hero Strike and Rush Assassination.
Luckily you only get these when you are about done with the game. So overpowered.
