awful performance since Fate of atlantis EP 3
ok to make 1 thing clear, my pc isn't thee best, but i was able to play this game on a 35 fps cap on high settings with my old AMD FX 9370 4,4 ghz and Asus strix 1060 6 gb, but since the patch i get around 17 fps all the time, this is terrible, i tried to low settings too, i only gain 7 fps more... any help?

It's more demanding than unoptimized. The 8 year old FX CPUs that were beat by Intel i3's at the time of release are not very good at gaming, big suprise.

Not really much you can do other than this.... https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/WrCjmq or if on a really tight budget https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/48hrkd . The 3600 is about 100% stronger and the cheaper 2600 is about 60% stronger.

Games are going to just become more and more CPU intensive.

Post-update game performs badly even in the "old world". Game freeze every few minutes, sometimes only for couple seconds, sometimes permanently. Somehow it's tied to auto-saving. I guess the devs bloated save file and/or the procedure - just like they've bloated the client to 90Gb+

8700k is a great CPU, I have one in my main rig and one in my VR rig both delided and OCed to 5.0.

I would start looking for a used motherboard and RAM, and sell your dated parts to someone. It would drive me nuts having a 8700k sitting there and using a FX CPU.

This.

The new DLC is ... overambitious in it's amount of geometry. DX11 is a bit touch-and-go for this much drawcalls and the renderpipeline can get choked at times when you try to run >30fps on very high settings, as it's balanced around 30fps on even lower-overhead API's than DX11 for windows (consoles are more bare-metal).

To be honest, I think even on a lower-overhead API most CPU's would still struggle rendering the amount of detail.

It also happen to the entire game if we start the new game mode after we complete the fate of Atlantis episode 3 ....it crashes and the FPS drop quite often than before , perhaps a new patch may need...........><

I do not notice any difference in Greece itself. it's just Atlantis that is taxing for obvious reasons.
Before the Discovery Tour they may launch a new patch 1.5 [ maybe ].

What will it mean for my monster? I play at max settings 1440p and according to benchmark it runs 17-37 fps and 24 average. My pc is RYZEN 7 1700 16 GB DDR4 3200MHZCL15 GS KILL RIP JAWS GTX 970 G1 GAMING DELLP2416D 24'' 2560X1440 60 HZ IPS. How will it run Atlantis? Why is it more demanging than the main game?

The game already looks almost like a movie on ultra high 1440p..... How much better can dlc look? Games already reached a part where there is hardly a difference betweent hem and movies/real life.

So I just checked. The new DLC at times pulls 100.000 or more drawcalls per second. Just to give you a sliver of reference, the new tomb raider pulls max 3500/5000. Anyone calling this game unoptimized has no clue lmao

and why so many drawcalls?

A lot of them are instanced to re-use as much of the same geometry to build the scene. The overal vertex count is somewhat tolerable.
