Absolutely loved this game, but despise Atlantis?
So, this is honestly one of my all time favourite games - well over 150 hours.

Loved Legacy of the First Blade, truly great extension of the story, flaws aside, but now I've started on the Atlantis stuff and I feel like this DLC is destroying everything that was great about the game and making me hate it.

The design is absolutely horrific - this game is not suited to such up and down platforms with stupid teleporters. The place looks visually nice enough but the structure of the missions is absolutely horrific.

The big problem I'm having is a brand new giant map, that instead of giving you markers, gives you directions - but you haven't discovered 90% of all the question marks so you have NO IDEA where anything is yet - and you'll have to wander around aimlessly to discover them - which means the disgusting level/map design absolutely crushes any fun in here.

And the fact all the gameplay is just a regurgitation of everything that went before means I am close to ditching this abomination of a DLC.

It's like what were they thinking with this? It's just horrible. Another stupid 'simulation within a simulation'? None of this DLC works at all and it's frustrating, boring, repetitive and painful.

I've had four or five sessions of it, a number of hours, and I just came out of my latest one with my latest set of 'ugggghhhhh' and I think it's time to call it quits on this chapter.

But I can't exactly start chapter 2 without the story.

So, yeah, fun!

The Atlantis dlc is pretty short, so I cleared all the objectives before starting the quests and I tried not to fast travel, just take a boat or horse because the distances are short and it's atmospheric. Not fast traveling makes the elevators useful. Trying to draw it out because it's over pretty quickly.

I thought it was good they put in some new enemy abilities.

Short? Feels like I've been at it forever already. It just feels off to me. But glad you got more out of it.

Felt the same but still completed it all. I am half trough the second chapter, pretty much a copy/paste of the first chapter, but the atmosphere is grim/sinister wich appeals me alot more than sunshines and flowers.

My problem with the DLC is, that it is a simulation in a simulation of the past. In this point of view it doesnt make sense in my eyes.

Correct. I make that point in my OP. It's idiotic and the first real mistake Ubisoft have made with this game and its development.

Oh joy - so the sh*te chapter one just repeats all over again but with a grimmer backdrop?

It's a pretty strange simulation since you can take loot back to Greece. But then how can you carry around twenty suits of armor anyway? It's magic...

Me too. Worst DLC i played in the last 15 years or so. Such bad writing. Shudder.
I take 10 Atlantis DLC before i will ever replay that dreck.
Honestly this is ''Mythology'' is about the ISU and GOD power ..so both DLC are important the creator of content try to tell us this is how all it begin ..the bloodline of a common assassin in the next generation , they try to show us why an assassin is so talent ...etc
anyway i do enjoy the map alot , i cant even get enough of it , i even think the map is too small because i do enjoy to explore around and complete the map and meet the people in each city and village and litsen to them ..i even try to make friend with Maxime [ the creator ] haha to ask him more maps even it make me look stupid and he did not answer me yet Lol..:P

This game would have been better without the modern storyline, each time the game switches to that girl and her friends in the real world it breaks my immersion massively.
Somehow the modern sequences looks even very cheap compared to the rest of the game.

Oddly enough despite its glaring flaws, I am now finally getting into the Atlantis stuff a bit more. Either that or I'm just in a good mood. Who knows.

As for the modern stuff, I must be one of the few fans who loves those sections.

Love this game, but despise Layla sections... I skipped all the scenes so I could get back to the actual game... Was looking forward to Atlantis... then first thing that happens... LAYLA section -_-. I lost all interest in the modern day story segments when they killed Desmond off, I actually preferred Black Flags modern day... Wasn't much story, but I'll take that over Layla.
