Sell or dismantle will also be influenced by which resources you need vs. what type of item you're looking at. You won't get any iron from disassembling bows, nor leather from any melee weapons IIRC. Disassembling bits of armor gets both. If you're running low on gems for some reason, you won't get those from disassembling common or rare gear -- needs to be epic-tier.

And of course if you need ancient tablets for ship upgrades (there's many more than you need, FWIW -- I have 90 left over with a completely upgraded ship, without ever having bought any, and without having completed every single location, e.g. there are underwater locations and really tiny islands I've never visited) you won't get those by disassembling anything either.
well, as i understand after completely upgraded ship we wouldnt really hit some strong need in materials. so, maybe my question wouldnt be actual soon))

but still... my topic was about overall profit in terms of concentrating on dismantling or selling. i think more comfortable will be... having more money - since in time of need specific material you can buy it.

This is a pretty good vid regarding whether to dismantle or sell goods.

Really depends on what you need. I don't have proper research, but since you're level 80, I'm going to assume that you already have a lot of drachmae from pillaging and playing the game, as well as possibly selling earlier gear. I have about 600k and I barely play nowadays, and am only level 60 something. Basically, I think dismantling gear is better if you need to upgrade your ships, armor, etc. (which will be needed.)

Sell gear and buy mats, i am level 99. Sell prices at higher levels are extremely high. Plus you'll need the money for engraving upgrades!

well, i have extra money (like 70000000+), so i wonder if it was right decision - just to sell gear. tbh i not have big problem with lack of materials, really

Both in different condition. You normally dismantle gears, it gives you a bit of everything, until you lack of one certain material, then you sell your loots for dracmae, and buy them from blacksmiths.

great video endeed. thx!

to sum up, as i understand:
common and rare gear - better dismantle
epic weapon gear - better sell(but daggers dont have profit none of them)
epic outfit gear - better dismantle

Not quite. The dismantle vs sell chart he uses can be found on the net too which is easier than going though the video again (unless you pause the vid).

The strongest recommendation I can make is to only upgrade your gear every 10 lvls at 11, 21, 31 etc to 91 and 99 as at these intervals is when the augments increase in stats. The augment stats don't change between for example 71 to 80 until you hit 81.

This will save a lot of money and resources.
