Not sure what level you are or of the difficulty you are playing at, but my strategy was to use abilities and skirt / arrow him to death when I first faced off with that bastage. Once you get high enough level and if you aren't playing on nightmare, he is one of the easier boss level challenges. Medusa was my bane...
Cheers, - KYG
Hope you also have the healing ability because that is pretty much essential at higher levels.
Level 58
It sometimes can all depend on your build, so I'd recommend switching that up if you are still having trouble. You can always lower your difficulty as well!
You can actually fight the boar very effectively in CQB with daggers. Utilize the lock-on function to lock on to the boar, then stay behind him.
Every time he goes to turn, just dodge back to his butt, then keep attacking.
This will actually lock him in to a loop where he is constantly turning to face you.
He spawns his adds after each 1/4 of his HP is gone. So plan accordingly. He will generally run from you, then spawn them.
Use multishot on them to kill them quick, or use the slow time ability and pick them off one by one.
Then when the boar closes the distance again, with a charge, just dodge, lock back on, and keep jabbing his butt with your daggers.
Personally, right now on my current Nightmare+ game I am using the Minotaur's Labrys 2H Axe. Drops all Overpower attacks, including bow attacks, to 2 adrenaline.
Its my heavy hitting aoe weapon for my poison build. have it upgraded to make its weapon damage poison.
love it. and some of the kill moves with it are absolutely brutal.
Ill usually swap to my daggers when I am up against a really tough enemy so that I can get my poison applied really quick.
The weakening effect of poison is a life saver on Nightmare. Can take you from being two-shot, to being able to take 5-10 hits before being in trouble.
