only thing you keep for all runs to come, are permanent perks.
btw where are those permanent perk points? are they hidden or some special event?
I almost defeated the game with 24 fate perks andd the Tigershawk ship - not knowing much of the game. They are just a bonus... not a requirement to help you on the runs.
Basically with every successfull playthrough of a sector you get new perks. Some of those perks are permanent perks for more fate points. Also right from the start there are permanent fate points for a stronger ship.
All in all that means difficulty dicreases the longer you play the game, which e.g. allows you to win more easily on hardcore or with weaker ship designs.
There's some luck involved too. Finding a couple good modules early on can make the difference. My first run, I didn't have great point defense, and was always making repairs and out of money. My second run I got the point defense, and was able to use all that money to upgrade the ship. But then I just didn't have enough power to fight the spiders because I never found good generators. Third run, I found a few generators early and curb stomped everything.
But I do agree that fate does somewhat little in determining how well you do. I looked at starting a 4th game, and I just had no idea what to spend all these fate points on. I started with more crew than I could feed, more modules than I could mount, and more resources than I could store. Ended up doing alot of scrapping, selling and dismissing crew at the first trade center, and it turned into a small bit of money, but otherwise is not that much different from last play.
Have a run that didn't fizzle in the first sector? Now you're expected to:
* Buy the most expensive Permanent perk you can.
* Start game.
* Promptly retire from that game.
* Restart with more perk points.
thats exactly what i did when i accidentally scrapped one of the shield modules. after i retired from that run to start a new one all those bonus perk points were gone
thanks, that made it clear as day for me!
i did play FTL a ton so im into this, but some things are quite complicated due to the messy hud and weird way of explanation
im already trying to get myself medbays for humans and androids as well as gunnery drones and some on-board security :-)
thanks for the advice mate
