Unusually high CPU temperature when playing this game?
I keep getting CPU temp warnings from this game, and only this game. Anyone else noticing this problem?

I can play modern games like Overwatch or They are Billions or whatever just fine no temperature warnings, but this game makes my CPU run HOT.

Accoding to my CPU temperature monitor, I run normally around 48 C and it spikes all the way up to 75 C when this one program is running...

The reason Overwatch doesn't have this issue for you is #1 they optimized it much better and #2 it probably leverages the GPU for a lot (most) of the work whereas this game hardly touches it.

That said, it seems like your CPU cooling setup needs some work, maybe you need to dust your case or blowout your laptop fans. A computer should be able to handle running at full throttle indefinitely without overheating. It's not terribly surprising that an indie game in early access isn't well optimized, hopefully it'll get better over time.

Good luck...

I would be inclined to agree with you, but this overheating issues seems to be a problem unique to this game and this game alone. I mentioned Overwatch and They are Billions because they're probably the most resource intensive modern games that I play, but really any game in my catalog doesn't make my computer send me overheating warnings. Like BattleTech, no problems playing that game for extended periods of time, but an hour or two of this sends my CPU into overheat message warning mode. Same goes for things like new Master of Orion or Xcom or Xcom2. None give any overheat problems.

Your computer *should* be able to redline for hours on end. Beyond that, there's nothing a dev can do, malicious or otherwise, that would trigger overheating. Try running something like Prime95 for any hour and I bet you'll probably get the same warnings.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's reasonable for a small game to burn CPU cycles like this (it's not!) or that there's anything wrong with you bringing up the inefficiency. I'm just pointing out that at worst the lack of optimization is stressing your computer and revealing a weak point (that you might want to address, it'll make your computer last longer!).

So... whatever was happening, the problem was becoming untenable. My CPU temperatures were constantly going into overheat problems.

I don't know. But I had to buy a whole new CPU coolant fan system. And now my computer is general is very much colder (idle temperature is down from 40C to 20C) and playing this game doesn't even raise my CPU temperature to 40C, let alone the 80C it used to.

Was this game the straw that broke the camels back? And finally overworked my previous CPU coolant system into failure?
