Accuracy Issues - see video
There still appears to be issues with gun accuracy -- with tanks, AT guns, and infantry weapons. Sometimes things operate normally--you might miss a shot or two but not five or more shots and they won't be wildly off the mark--other times you get what I've documented in the video below.

I had a Pak 38 with clear LOS on a Sherman but it missed well over 10 shots, almost all no where near close to the target. This video begins after three shots had already been taken. It's with patch 1.1.7. That same Sherman was shot at from 30 meters by a Panzerschrek team with clear LOS - it missed four out of its five shots.

Pip/Sutur/Steve, ideas?

This has been issue since launch.... don't know why they haven't fixed it yet

Bump =)

The AT gunner is firing blind (which you can see in the soldier monitor at about 0:56)

This SHOULD be reflected in the targeting line and also via an indicator when you hover over the Sherman. Not sure why it is not. Will look into that bit. Do you have a saved game at this point I can test with?

Hi Steve,

No, I don't have a saved game.

Regarding firing blind -- I didn't notice that. However, he shouldn't be firing blind since the gun should have line of sight on the tank--wouldn't you agree?

Also, do you see how wildly off the mark the rounds are? Follow the tracers -- for an example go to 1:27 and watch where the round goes.

Yes there is a problem here. If the LOS line says it's a clear shot but the gunner is firing blind then one of the two is wrong. That is what I'm looking into.

Hi Hanomag -- I've been trying to reproduce this exact situation without success. How did you start the game in question? Brand new campaign? Single battle? Load from a save? If loaded from a save, was it saved mid-battle during this same battle?

At the very least I'm going to change the way the fire order target line is displayed so that, rather than being solid green, it always looks as it does when you are in the process of issuing a fire order (i.e. it shows graduated points where LOS is obscured/blocked and also shows the indicator icons for difficult/obscured/blind shots.)

Thanks.

Hi Steve, it was a custom single battle, but I am having this happen during single battles and GC battles -- I've started video recording all gameplay so will upload more of these.

I think the easiest way to re-create this would be to jump into a MP match together. Then we can place the entities in the exact spot. If you want to do that, friend me and we can set up a time.

I don't think the AT gun LOS should have been obscured. I know there were bushes/hedgerows in between it and the tank, but given the gun's elevation relative to the tank's elevation (which was higher) the barrel/projectile should have been able to clear the bushes and hit the tank.. What do you think?

There may be a spot where the gun has clear LOS to the tank but I haven't hit upon it. I suspect that if you hit 'V' to issue a FIRE order when you notice the gunner is firing blind, and you move the cursor over the target to get the LOS line, it would show the LOS as obscured.

It sounds as if you are able to reproduce this situation fairly often? If so, the simplest way to get me a repro case would be to pause your battle when it happens, hit ESC, and save the game. Then send me the saved game file and I'll be able to look at the exact situation.

Thanks!

The camera doesn't go down the ground far enough to really tell, but from the angle seen starting at 0:06, it looks like the tank is elevated above those bushes/hedges enough for the gun to get a shot on it. I think jumping into a MP match to test it more or less exactly as we see in the video is the way to go -- unless you have the ability to do that on your own.

Hopefully you saw my note in the original post regarding the same tank and a panzerschreck team - "That same Sherman was shot at from 30 meters by a Panzerschrek team with clear LOS - it missed four out of its five shots.". Something odd about that..

I'll send you more as they arise.

Yes, I can use a debug version to play both sides at the same time. That's how I was trying to reproduce the situation.
