What do you mean "No lobby again"? The direct connection info is in the patch notes (PatchNotes.rtf in the game install folder).

was play through multiplayer today, had to multiple times to get into lobby but finally did it ,multiplayer is where close combat rocks, will try to find instructions for direct connect

i read the release notes about direct connection, do you have to sign into the lobby first to get direct connection? i am confused

Direct connection is how you and your opponent connect to one another. It is not required to enter the lobby nor to play the game, it can just help when latency is a problem between two players.

And just how does one direct connect with the game as the lobby always seems to be empty?

Unfortunately you can only get a game going when people are in the lobby at the same time. There are some groups on Steam to arrange games ahead of time IIRC.

Typical stone-age technique !!!! So poor that games in such modern age use such idiotic multiplayer.
Very very poor, but typical for slitherine games.

What on earth are you talking about? What other technique can you use for a realtime game other than people being online at the same time?

lol :)

so direct connection is activated automatically if connection is bad between me and opponent?

It requires that the host configures their router appropriately. From the readme:

NOTE: If you experience significant lag while playing a multi-player game you may be able to improve this by setting up a direct connection between the host computer and the client computer. To enable a direct connection, the hosting player must configure their router and firewall to allow incoming connections on TCP port 1944 and, if necessary, make sure connections on port 1944 are forwarded to the correct computer on their local area network.

Idiotic stone-age technique!!!! A normal browser it show the player must be a standard and some other options for multiplayer.
But sure it is very easy for the devs to integrate such poor multiplayer.
