Zoom levels [PERFORMANCE SUGGESTIONS]
At first I was a little skeptical, the camera felt off, but I found out you can edit the camera tilt and zoom levels in:

this should be default, atleast pitch lvl

This is definitely so much better. It was one of my first observations when playing--that I couldn't zoom in far enough, nor pitch downwards enough. The only issue with changing the values is my zoom-in level is completely locked at the closest level and I am unable to pitch/swivel around using my middle-mouse button when in game. I can't zoom out, nor change pitch--is that normal?

Try reverting the TOPDOWNZOOMLIMIT back to 300.

Zooming in close isn't really necessary and the game was obviously not designed with that in mind. The 3D models are shockingly bad up close. This has nowhere near the detail of Combat Mission or Graviteam Tactics.

However, the one major improvement in changing the camera settings is to allow the camera to get down near level with the ground so you can really see the topography of the maps. The only downside is that sometimes the camera goes "underground".

One need only compare the topographic awareness afforded by TBF's low-angle camera view with similar but inferior map info that could only be provided using classic CC's right-click + drag, to see the necessity for finally incorporating 3D into the series. Only Thomm's 'quasi-3D' .OVMs for CC4 & 5 and Schnellmeyer's contour mods for PitF/GtC came anywhere close to providing that level of info.

Somewhere in the Steam forum TBF discussions I saw someone refer to the new LOS tool as "pitiful". They must have been thinking of the LOS/LOF line that attaches to the cursor, a direct descendant of the classic CC fire line. OTOH, the new CTRL key viewshed tool is superb. It even shows LOS on the mini-map. And much like the unannounced ALT+right click in CC2 to show reverse LOS, it appears to me that the AI is aggregating LOS's from known player unit positions to plot it movements outside of player LOS.

Cant call that cheating if the player can do it too. Its a tactic where meat puppets cant match software capability.

But some people allways needs to complain on most everything. I think many gamers now feel that they not only have the right to complain about everything a devteam do but also be toxic about it. I hope it gain a strong followergroup like the old 2d variant have and not to many veterans and fans will be scared away.

I have recently made changes to my map view data in accordance with nolaJeff's numbers.
The zoom in seems to work fine but I cannot get the pitch to work any different than the original numbers. I cannot get down to ground level. Suggestions?

If this image[imgur.com] is more like what youre looking for from ground-level pitch then check Free Camera in Game Options and use the following for Mapview.txt -
