Is this game ACTUALLY good?

I was considering buying this on the switch but I was told it was "meh"

I look at the reviews here, 87% positive.

Forgive my choice of words, but I really can't think of a better way to say it too well.

Is this game ACTUALLY a good rpg, or is it just another JRPG with good ratings only because of weebs who will upvote anything because Anime and cute girls?

When people talk about this game having a deep, compelling, and plot-twist rich story, i get the feeling that the person has joined the jrpg/anime community 2 or 3 years ago at most.

And i do not mean that as an insult, it´s just that literally every single trope in this game, including all the plot twists, backstories and even downright to the character designs has been done and overdone a thousand times before.

Do not get me wrong, i am loving the game myself, because i knew exactly what i was getting into and it scratches the itch that the Breath of Fire series left empty, but come on xD

The story is literally Summer Season 12/24 episodes harem fantasy anime : the game.

Same story from last year, when beta-testers, who received free keys for Ys VIII on steam, hyped the game and it's quality up to the roof (Spetember last year). We all know what was the state of the game after all.

Deep, compelling and plot-twist rich story...I know many jRPG's which are like that. Sadly, Resonance is not one of them. And I agree with you completely - it's generic jRPG with mild fanservice, made with cheap assets with high price tag. Luckily, steam has plenty of good games in this genre these days, and more to come.

The thing is, there is nothing wrong with what it is.
I was starved for an basic style , light hearted RPG and Dragons and this offered both.

If you know what you are getting into, there is absolutely nothing wrong with liking this game.

But to pretend that it´s some kind of second coming of the olde JRPG era?

From Japanese RPG I expect deep and rich story, full immersion into the world created by developers, interesting characters, and cool battle system, which can drive me throught the game smoothly. I can name plenty of examples. This is what it is, Saga sums it up perfectly. For me, it's a trash bin game, alongside with Fairy Fencer, Mugen Souls, all recent NISA games and newest Neptunias. Not worth asking price IMO.

Sure, it's translation is butchered by NISA, but even with that, game is far superior than Resonance). Resonance will be in bargain bin quite soon, like Fairy Fencer and other generic jRPG's were before, I'm pretty sure about it.

Is it true that it's another Chrono Trigger rip-off, as it looks like that in announcements?
Aslo, You're saying XB2 is great, but from what I heard - it's not as good as the first game or even the spin-off, XBX.
That, and it's Pokemon, but with waifus instead of Pokemons, right?

Oh, no issues in Lacrimosa of Dana on Switch? I've red something else, altough it happens when user decide to download the Day 1 DLC.
PC port was even a bigger mess - aven after all the delays (not sure about the translation though, they announced that they published a new one at the end of January).

From what i am seen from gameplay, it doesn't hold a candle to tales combat system at all. It feels more like a clunky verison of PSO2 combat system with song, dragon form etc to differ from it.

I haven't buy it yet so i can't judge the story that much. I missed it's discount...

Honestly, just buy the game if you enjoy the aspect of the dating simulator and the artist's ladies.

I will like to remind you that the original game + all the DLCs will be more or at least double the price tag of this Refrain Edition.

If oyu like grindfest, you will love this garbage. Normal mobs are so weak you will be able to beat them with your eyes closed. A boss 3 levels above yours wil 1 shot you. EVERY TIME. Also, you cant run from the battle, you cant even load a previous save. The game is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dumb, that it doesnt even allow you to move to a differnt save. So unless you ran back to the save point when you saw that there would be boss on your road, then you are ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Few hours of playing can be gone, just like that.

The bosses are strong but they won't one shot you if you actually pay attention to your surroundings. There's save points right in front of most bosses. Also, you can continue after a boss wipe and start right back at the boss, no progression lost.

Also that's a lot of complaining coming from someone who doesn't even own the game. Smells like a pirate if I've ever smelled one.

err you can actually run away from battle by walking to the edge of the battleground. and what do you mean you can't load save and move to a different save? I assume you mean you can't load the game anywhere in the field. if that's so you can actually go back to the main menu without exiting the game and load from there. As for boss battle, yes at the beginning of the game the boss can one shot you, but you can easily dodge their attack as long as you can see the sign of them attacking. as for the normal mobs well at the beginning they are so weak but later on the normal mobs will have higher level than you that it can be pretty chalenging (I also hate to admit that I got a game over once from normal mob that somehow simultanously killed my entire party)

You CAN run from battles except bosses
3lvl avobe 1 shot ... nope, are you even using the gems?
you have 3 save slots, so you can change between them
there's a save point before every boss
I see you don't even have the game....

You can only go back to the main menu, or continue, which puts oyu at the fight again. Save point isn't near every boss as well.
