The crash carts themselves require a damaged crash cart(which appear as "heart bleep" icon or "heart investigation station"), and that won't happen unless it's during an emergency where things are apt to fall apart.
When the staff takes the charged defibs (from newly bought crash carts) and places it in other equipment, it remains undamaged and nothing will happen. So sell it and buy a new one.
That's how I see it anyhow, and I've yet to see a damaged crash cart.
ED:
Apparently I've been confused with the fact it says the carts produce the items.
They don't. Instead, it's one cart per equipment that needs it, and some extra few for emergencies.
