I'm not sure what the difficulty standards in the game are but it sounds like "brutal" is in fact "brutal."
It might be the tutorial way of showing you that even when you fail a mission you still get research and gold...
Upgrades are the key to progressing.
Yes, just replay to get cash. It appears that there is TONS of tech tree upgrades even after you max out your main character's mech. It also appears that there will be more mercenaries to hire later in the game. Also, consider that upgrades for attack rate will also deplete your ammo faster, so keeping them around the same level is probably a smart idea.
Yes, it is intended that the same price for sell as build. This gives you a trade-off between selling and rebuilding OR upgrading. The selling and rebuilding will let smaller kaiju through, but you can even use it as a damage source for monsters trapped in the drop pod path. Upgrading will increase the durability of walls and damage and range of defenses, but you will lose the upgrade costs if the defense is sold or destroyed. Feature (I'm pretty sure, the developers commented about it in one of the youtuber's videos).
Towers are offensive and not defensive. You will notice they don't have shields or hp bars. On the flip side, enemies will path around the towers which will cause them to avoid your walls if they are behind the towers. So, it's probably best to build towers behind walls and not in front of them.
Hard mode is ment for a upgraded base it seems. So play normal/easy till you unlock more. It creates replayability bro.
-To the Dev
There will always be people that will complain about difficulty. If you take their advice the game will become easy and unchallanging even on hard. If it becomes a massive problem then I'd recommend a new difficulty that is easier then easy.
I disagree with.
You can start playing SC2 on Brutal and can pass it without upgrades
You can start playing Civilization and you can pass in on God difficulty
I can count a lot of other strategy games.
Giving people a mission in THE BEGINNING of the game which couldn't be passed without grind - is very bad decision.
If you know what a player can't pass it why he should waste a time trying to beat it?
Is should be unlocked until he gets strong enough.
I am sure, there will be a lot of people who will complain about it.
Believe me, a lot of players don't like to grind to pass a mission.
People likes playing on hard because they wanted a challenge, but if a mission is immposible and the are forced to grind... they wont like.
Lock Brutal mode until a player gets strong enough.
And my humble opinion - first 1-3 missions should be easywalk on all difficulties..

I dislike idea with 100% refund of wall then they are at low hp.
Because it changes the genrer of the game from strategy (where you need to rhink ahead) to arcade game (where you need fast reaction)
1) The game is insane on Brutal
2) Levels can be passed after few upgrades, but you need to replay same missions again and again. Grind is a very bad idea for a strategy game
3) I would advice to move a tutorial from the tutorial to the first mission. Believe me, noone plas tutorials. Everyone rushes to the intereting ( to the game)
4) A lot of unclear things. No info for enemy/towers (attack damage, health and etc). You even can't see an attack range of tower (it forces me to restart a mission because towers dont attack enemy behind walls)
5) Air support has a long cooldown and do so low damage..
6) Enemies don't have physical size. 10 of them can be at the same point and you can't understand how much of them are there.
7) Enemies walk on water. Are they Jesus?
8) I didn't feel power of mercenaries. I made several upgrades, but it felt like they do nothing.
9) Is there only 1 battle soundtrack? I noticed the same track plays too often.
10) 100% refund price for a wall is a bad idea. Refund price for better walls is same 150$. It forces you to play only with 1 lvl wall and constant sell/construct them. It's not fun
111) I used this annoying tactic and reached lvl 3 and what do you think. At level 10 comes a lot of flying creatures which ofc fly over walls. There are so much of them, so 6 your tesla towers with air support and mercenaries dont give a chance to kill them before the base falls.
A gave up with this game after that. Too much negative features
I would give this game a negative review without any doubts ( I review all td games), but you are in EA, so I hope you will make the game better. See you in a couple of months
There are few positive feedback. Setting is nice, Graphics is better than average (i only dislike orange creeps), Interesting Tech tree mechanic, I liked intro comics.
overall idea of the gameplay is pretty good, but i think holding left mouse all the time can get annoying too soon.
Good luck
I am copying all this to a document I will go point po point in the course of the week! Thank you
Now, I am only 1 dev for everything, even read and answer your questions and concerns, so I ask you if please all the feedback and bug report can leave it in the thread that is labeled with the name Feedback and Bugs. Thank you very much everyone for supporting the game. I promise to solve all the bugs I can in the best time possible!
This Monday or Tuesday (May 7/8) there is going to be an important update with several things resolved and most of steam's achievements working.
Thank you all for your patience! If you have ideas for new functions, modes, etc., do not hesitate to leave them in the discord channel.
Also the bridge level seems extra hard since you lose all your grid spots and towers :-\
Not even tried brutal yet until I clear it all on medium
Hey, Metal Health.
The challenges are designed to be played having passed more than half of the first campaign. It must have at least 50% of the technologies and improvements of the unlocked mechs to be able to pass it. Still, it's difficult. All challenges can be won, I've tested them myself!
hello Gasaraki!
The game is not complete, in the next update special missions are added among the missions of the campaign just to avoid grinding. There are also the survivials to make money without altering the story.
Even so the game can be won almost without repeating missions, although this is very difficult and requires adapting and very quickly to all changes. I almost achieved it, except for mission 4 and 7, which I had to repeat once each time hehe.
I have also lowered a bit the difficulty of pokio households for the next update as well as adding 2 Special Ops previous to this screen.
A close beta of this build is goin to be publish for the testers this week, if you wanna look at it please join our Beta Testers program!
The game is in development and many things are going to change from here to the final verison. Feedback like yours helps me improve it, so thank you very much for that!
If you want a direct dialogue with me, I invite you to join discord chat.
Not all games are meant to be easy, if the difficulty says Brutal, well then I would hope it was brutal or else, like you mentioned with SC2 and Civ, the highest diffculty would just be easy for a vet. such as you.
