Orbital Station / Uranium / Portal Bug
Hey,

Been playing what is otherwise a great game for a while now but I'm stuck.

I currently have an issue that makes this game completely unplayable. My orbital station has run out of uranium and a bug prevents me from selling uranium to the orbital station from my cliffs.

I have searched online for a solution to this issue, there is an old thread that I struggled to fully comprehend, it explains needing to stop "lower drones" (I assume those are the bigger drones that carry stuff from the ground to the cliffs) dropping resources onto the trading platform - I deleted all of mine and the issue still happens. In fact I deleted every ground level building as well, and the bug still happens.

In about 30 attempts / 2 hours of testing, I've twice managed to sell a tiny amount of uranium to the orbital station. I can never get it to work more than once and it seems no matter what combination of factors I alter, no matter the order of change, I cannot identify what's preventing the transfer of uranium.

Any help/support would be greatly appreciated! :)

just tested it... works as intended...
can you describe more about it? what kind of drones you have, how much uranium, provide trade portal setup screenshot...?

Thanks for a fast reply!

I have all drone types available. Every city is maxed out with drones.

Trade portal screenshot: {LINK REMOVED}

I figured if the Orbital Station had no money, it wouldn't be able to trade but even with money it still doesn't buy - although as I said, it did sell on two occasions so I guess it's not that.

There's not a lot of uranium (working on it!) but there's enough to sell.

You are trading with the platforms, or the sky-train thing ?

If you dont have enought drones available during the "trading portal time window" and a LOT of things to sell, Uranium might be trickling between loading sacks of grains and wads of water while discharging ruble and grapes; but you said you're fine, so the whole "try disabling every selling products except uranium, check your bridges and sky-train too just in case" is not on the table as a solution.

And, what exactly is that old topic with the "lower drones" ? Might worth a look for us too here.

I'm trading via the portals. The big blue gate with the little hovering platform arriving at 8am. By sky train I presume you mean the trade shuttle? That doesn't allow you to trade uranium as apparently the ride is too bumpy!

I can also see uranium on the platform, it just doesn't seem to be acknowledged on the other side. The uranium goes through, the stock is reduced on the sellers side, but not increased on the buyers side. The "bought/sold" stats are also not affected, as in they don't change or update.

So even if the uranium is loaded onto the platform, it removes it from that cliff's stock count, without reducing the stock count on the buyers side, but when viewing the trade stats for that cliff, the amount sold, for uranium, does not increase.

Here's the link to the other thread I mentioned: https://steamcommunity.com/app/809140/discussions/0/1738883810795732546/?

So, I started a completely new game...

Maybe it was a one off, I thought. Not the end of the world but still a little frustrating to have to start all over again.

I've hit the same issue.

I cannot run my orbital station because I cannot get enough uranium to power everything, especially now that the solar energy stopped working, presumably (I'm not entirely sure why) because of the mission requiring me to keep mental at max for 2 weeks?

Here's a video: {LINK REMOVED} (*sigh* it filters out the video, if you send me an email address I can forward it on to you?)

As you can see, uranium is loaded on, but does not seem to want to make it through the other side and the sales figures do not update as a result.

I reset all trade stats to check, made sure all cliffs were exporting the max possible and had as much uranium as they needed to hit the daily quota of 25 - one cliff massively outsold the other two, it seems the other two stopped trading uranium for some reason, despite it being taken from the cliff stockpile, it doesn't make it to the orbital station.

Really wanting to get to level 25 to unlock the next area...! But it seems impossible right now.

must be fixed in 1.30

got same issue, version 1.30 installed. Any info I can provide to fix it?

Hi. I'm playing the version 1.41 of the game. The game is great but this issue isn't solved.

I have control of the orbital station so i can see that uranium never arrived (or only partially).
By conducting some test (shutdown all atomic generator in the station, sending only uranium, sending only uranium thrgough one portal, comparing uranium arriving on platform vs uranium effectively delivered to the station) the variable seems completly broken.
For exemple, I have 75 uranium in stock in my city. I decide to "sell if more" than 10 units and "One-time sale" 25 units (to better view the change of the variable).
When the plateform arrive. 25 units are taking from the stock and delivered to the plateform by drones (it is written 25 in white bold). They are also withdrawed from the stock.
But a lot of this value seem to fall in a strange gap. The "one time sale" value only decreasing from few units (4 units (25->21)) and only few units are really delivered to the station (4 units i guess).
When the plateform goes back "delivery values" in the rading portal are reset to 0 and big part of the marchandise seems to be lost into void.
I can document bug with more precise test or image/video capture if necessary.

This bug completly broke the game making approvisionement in energy of the orbit station nearly impossible. It's sad because the game is really enjoyable and has very good ideas refreshing the city-building genre.

hm... is the orbital scanner task active in that situation? It can consume a lot of uranium... or the quest is done but the scanner isn't disabled?
subdbk Dec 30, 2024 @ 4:07am
Nope.
There is no temporary task at the time of the test (only approching tempest).
Main task is to maintain mental health in the orbital station.
subdbk Dec 30, 2024 @ 6:56am
I have conduct another test :
Sending 25 "one-time sale" units of uranium from 3 differents cliffs.
In all 3 cities 25 units are taken from the stock and delivered to the plateform. Value in white bold indicate 25 units.
In city 1 : the orange "one time" sale value only decrease from 25->21
In city 2 : 25-> 24
In city 3 : 25->19
Total 11 units.
Only 10 units seems to appears in the orbital station stock.

In a strangest way I wanted to redo this experiment (to see if these values will always be the same) but now i can't even send uranium through portal. Stocks are full, "min sell" value is set to 10. But drones ignore the task and do no transfer this ressource anymore.

A total guess is that it seems related to this bug :
https://steamcommunity.com/app/809140/discussions/0/1738883810795732546/
I've seen lower drone delivered uranium whenever plateform is not there. When the plateform arrive value seems to be reset to 0 in apparence. But maybe this value isn't reset to 0 back in the data, reducing the place for drones delivery through time to 0 ?
I can also provide save files if necessary. I'm playing on Win10.

{Edit}
Many days after having ignoring the task, drones start to re-deliver uranium to the portals (and it was not link to the event where trading is off with the station). But it stays at this strange rate with lot of lost.

(of course for all test i turn off atomic power plant in the orbital station to avoid drones taking ressources in the stock)
Lions Shade  [developer] Dec 30, 2024 @ 7:24am
will recheck it...
Lions Shade  [developer] Dec 31, 2024 @ 12:14am
So I rechecked it all, and it all seems to work okay.
1) large drones didn't participate in trading
2) "one-time sell" and "sell if more" using together can show an unregular decrease of one-time sell value. so if you measure something - better use one of them.
3) uranium (or any goods) appears on the station at the moment it appears on the trading platform, not when the platform disappears and it resets all to 0. so drones on the station can pick up goods and use them while they are visually still in the portal platform in the city.
4) trading can only stop when orbital station storage is full or just not enough drones to do all the work.

can proceed in DM to share savegames to better diagnostic.

Okay I was away from the game during last days and I've solved a big piece of this puzzle.
The big mistake was mine. Instead of matter, food, water and batteries wich are freely sent due to "disater mode" law, orbital station need to pay for uranium.
My Orbital Station is always low on cash.
When Orbital Station has negative cash value, no uranium is delivered to the plateform. Task is ignored and that's completly expected.
The strange pattern appear when Orbital Station is really low cash. It has cash so drones deliver uranium to the plateform and the white bold number increase. But Orbital Station has only enough cash to buy part of this stock. This part is the only part really trade resulting of a decrease of the "one time sell" orange value and and a increase of the Orbital Station uranium stock.
When market close and plateforms withdraw, the strange gap appear. Because there is no more plateform so no more trade. But there still is uranium that haven't been trade on the trading portal. Not exactly sure what happens then but it seems that this excess of ressources will be dump in the "strange gap" as the value of the plateform will be reset to zero when market opens.

I guess the "strange gap" were ressources are dumped should appear not only with uranium but with any ressources. Condition is destination has cash but not enough to buy the whole stock.
Does this seems to be the possible situation ?
