What are modular buildings?

I have searched on google and I haven't found anything on the subject. When I first played this game in Early access I could reach level 3 on residential buildings, now 2. Is this related?

You build modular base of either medical, housing, office or restaurant then can add up to 4 levels of more of the above saving valuable space. They have a large square base w/ garden and the building modules are triangular in shape.

Could have been removed long ago. Now we only have 2nd level upgrade. You have several different options for level 2 upgrade though.

till 8th medal - yes.

Ok, I got 10 medals but still am unable to improve modular buildings. Is there something I missed ?

Yes I researched level 4 modular building but can not upgrade an extra floor on for example house or apartments, what is wrong here??

I think i figured it out you guys....when adding more modules you have to select the last module you built, that'll give you the option to add another until you get to 6(if tech is maxed)...clicking anywhere else only gives you that module's info, and clicking on the base gives you the sum of all the modules

Exactly, thanks Emperor_Peter - i was stuck at 2 levels for my new modular buildings, couldn't build a third, BUT as you said, just select the highest module itself, instead of the foundation, which will allow for continued vertical expansion! :)

i don't understand what is the modular building ? can you post some screens illustrate that ?

as far as i seen the basic houses can be upgraded once without any research, from there thinking " hey if i learn that tech i may add more houses, let's go... result = nothing "
am i did something wrong ? in my party i am 14 medals and made all the researches concerning buildings upgrades

Modular buildings are buildings you build one level at a time. You get them at honour 11.
If you are interested, boot up a new game, choose "sandbox" and go to the smiley face icon in construction. You will see a "Modular Foundation". Once you build that, click on it and it will show you the type of levels you can build. Click on the top level to add more.
