If you want to focus on dodging, then homing shots (at least for C type, that's 99% of my ship usage) can auto track one spammed shot at a time when they are not in a convenient or safe spot for other weapons to hit that moment.
While I preffered Rear/Charge+Drill for most of the game, I switched over to homing+Sword for the last stretch of the game (I am garbage at reflecting, but transforming with C type will do a reflect swing as you transform which can be a handy Oh **** for a casual like me).
I've seen some youtube runs where people absolutely shred with side shots, but I liked how rear shot gives you a safety net to destroy projectiles coming from the bottom of the screen. like the end of the rain of swords attack, for example.
Wizard O'clock you can also essentially rub your face on the 6 orbs phase to destroy them all in one sweep, in exchange for one life. Totally worth it if you are not confident you can clear that phase without dying at all (particularly since you can rack up 4 lives total. point score+the pickup for killing the bubble enemies on the way down).
Also, the spoiler is what leads to 99% of all refunds and permanent ragequits. So, totally read this or you'll hate yourself later.
The TRUE final boss, after Magical Space Lady, erases your save file. Your remaining continues are also turned into your life bar for the True Final Boss. Back up your save file RIGHT NOW. Users/NAME/appdata/local/zeroranger.
Again, not knowing the spoiler is the leading cause of Refunds and permanent ragequits. But knowing the spoiler prevents that problem. Merely knowing the spoiler won't "ruin the experience".
"But helping, didn't you say you were garbage at reflecting?"
Yes! That's why after reflecting the small spheres, I dodged around his final huge blast and shot him in the back of the head with rear shot close enough to burn him with my exhaust to finish the job.
It was very cathartic after botching doing it the right way so often.
But still, that just makes it all the more likely you'll be able to make it in the end, if my dumb ass can beat him.
Additionally, as if that wasn't already pretty good, if you just hold the charge and take a hit, your charge progress will be cancelled, but you WON'T TAKE DAMAGE. And since your charge comes back in like 2 seconds it's basically the same thing as unlimited health!
Let me know if this helps!
