How to raise the difficulty?
The difficulty was lowered terribly, the game is ridiculously easy.

Looking on the internet that is just how it was made originally. That said with some digging I found this:
https://www.gog.com/forum/star_wars_episode_i_racer/harder_ai_mod
I have not tried it but the forum people seem to think it works.

Theres plenty of modders on the community discord that can help you if you need a challenge with the AI. But then again, you could just do time trials and see how far you can get if you want something difficult ;)

dont upgrade your podracer and try to play the whole campaign with anakin

lmao beat the game without upgrading your podracer, or restart whenever you blow up that's what I do. Thrilling stuff

there is no difficulty setting but the maps get harder as you scroll from top to bottom. the bottom row of maps are the most difficult as they have more obstacles and turns.

This game was hard on the n64 for the wrong reasons, input lag, broken analog sticks and 15 fps.

Winner take all is hard difficult

Fair: Easy
Skilled: Normal
Winner takes all: Hard

I mean when we were kids, we sucked at this game probably. I remember I played this game as a young'n for so many damn hours, and it took forever to beat the game even with a maxed out podracer. Then I go back to it when it rereleased on GOG and I beat the entire game within a day. Was pathetically easy tbh, even with a barely upgraded pod. Although I understand racing mechanics and stat optimization much better than I did as a kid.

I got a lot of entertainment out of theorycrafting the different pods though, especially when trying to beat my own times or make my own shortcuts.

Hello all,

I wan't to thank the person who make this cheat, i am trying to find the best option maybe i can guide some people;

AI LEVEL = 2-20 (its basicly the speed of the favorite racer)
AI SPREAD= 2-200 (its the speed difference between favorite racer and other racers)

Setting both settings at top will just give you guaranteed 2nd line but its "IMPOSIBLE" to win any race, maybe after you upgrade your engine at the top but im not sure they seems too fast, i tried and tried too many things and i find this most fun, challangable and beatable if you race very carefully.

AI LEVEL = 12.22 (13.33 is something like nightmare mode in quake3)
AI SPREAD= 12.22 (13.33 is something like nightmare mode in quake3)

There are no big gap between racers and favorite racer is really challanging (winner takes all is a big challenge with this settings).

Have fun.

If you never saw the reddit thread where the author tried to explain the significance of the values, it's here:
