STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer

STAR WARS™ Episode I Racer

Nothing Will Start
So I have a problem where the game is not even wanting to start for me, regardless of what option I pick. What happens is no matter if I click the option to start the game or the config options, I end up getting the two screens from both Steam and the Disney one asking if i want to run this game. I press yes on both, and a little back bar just shows up on the top left of my laptop and stays there for about 2 seconds and goes away. After which the program doesn't even start, it just closes itself and that is the farthest I get. I have tried to read some of the helps in this forum as to unplugging headsets or secondary controllers but that's just it... I have none of those. And my laptop is an HP Omen with GTX 1070 and 8gb RAM along with a quad core processor to boot (so there is no way its a problem of having an old system or outdated parts) So not really sure what I should do because no amount of "run as admin" or "configure for windows 7" has really done anything to resolve the issue.

I have tried to install GoG version to get to the launcher and nothing. I really wanted to play it again but I'm going to ask for the refund

Apparently it has issues with some USB devices, you can either try unplugging things or disabling them one by one in the device manager. For me I had to unplug my G933 receiver :|

I have nothing plugged up to my laptop. It's JUST the laptop itself. I don't have any joysticks, secondary monitors, or other mouse pads (which I have read in many of forums as being the solution to the problem of unplugging all these)

So unfortunately I am thinking of just getting my money back because I don't believe there is some sort of work around to the solution.

The usb issue Grrizz pointed out is by far the most common cause of this issue. 95% of all cases its an usb device that causes this. Just unplug it and plug it back in after the game is running.

My issue was I had to remove the wireless receiver for my logitech headset and it started up perfect. Maybe try removing some usb devices and try again?

YES, it was my turtle beach wireless headset USB that was causing the issue. Thank you for notifying me of such a strange problem. Easy fix after finding your solution here.

Yep. Unplugged my Corsair Wireless headset adapter and game launched just fine. Plugged it back in after it launched and head set worked great too.

If on Laptop try launching game on the Intel Graphics as preferred GPU not the dedicated graphics. i.e not on Radeon or Nvidia..
A lot of Star Wars games have a black screen bug on Laptops or no resolution options.

same problem, my solution was to initate the game trough steam library, is has two options, one to initate the game, and another to change the resolution, changing the resolution to something more... normal (1280 x 720 for example) resolved the issue
guys, i putted the game at 1366x768 and the game start to me, did you try do the same?
