FACT if players are not having same issue as you and you are running higher end pc it is something you are doing not the actual game itself. and im done replying to this thread that seems to have some trolls looking to br trolls(and not even good ones at that)
also note that i said i dont crash that often.it does happen but it also happens on other top titles.
Kinda cool how fickle some of these posters are, how they can flip the script so easily.
like dalanis near the water fountain with the 3 vagrants...(dalagnis)
i've been in some zones where i've crashes multiple times within minutes..
and there's been times my client stayed online for multiple days in lag environments.
my rom clients used to cap out at about 2gb of ram..then crash..
after a few times of noticing this, i used some memory capper software that nuked the rom client down to 200-300mb of ram usage, and it stopped alot of crashing, (not all)
i forget the program it was.. but it worked nice at fixing that 2gb ram problem.
i notice i get more crashes with "AddOns" then i do without them.
only like yacit,pbinfo,xbarIII,
pbinfo to see real hp, xbarIII gutted for cleaner ui.
the game will always crash, and the only fix or workaround is to drop the "view distance"
turn off shader and/or alter drivers.
honestly it's better to minimize the game graphics and view distance.
the game looks fine with "texture" and "character" graphics on max. with everything else low..
on the view distance bar 2000 range or under is plenty. and runs pretty good..
view distance (2000 units or less)
texture (max)
character (max)
shaders/effects/details/bloom (off!)
for the 2gb+ of ram....
use your own discretion and leet skills to keep the client under 2gb if you wish..
there are programs that can monitor and free memory floods.
i forget what they are, so be careful and DYOR.
gameforge/runewaker will never fix the memory leak, sw will never be out of "beta"
the game is what it is.
it's a good mmorpg. it has some flaws... but it is... a "diamond" in the rough..
just like me.
It's a shame really. I played it from the beta until 6 or 7 years ago and the issues were only getting worse with them adding more to the city of Varanas. It's been discussed to the death and it really is the only option to recude graphics to avoid or at least reduce the crashes in some zones.
If you do a quick search you'll also find tools like CleanMem who will do what the RoM memory management was supposed to.
I agree, it really is a fine mmo, crappy memory management aside. There's a reason I spent some money on it back in the day.
Everyone who uses some specific addons seem to crash and have memory issues.
So yeah.. just wanted to throw that out there.
-> Running threw a lvl 60 area with 2 players around - nothing happens
-> Running in one of the big cities with tons of NPC and players - crash after x min
The problem is the client itself. It doesn´t throw away old stuff which isn´t needed anymore (npc locations, player locations,...) therefore the client will grow and grow and grow
If it reaches 1 GB it will give you a warning
If it reaches 1.5 GB it will crash
And concerning this you can´t do anything - if you have 2GB or 16GB RAM or even more...
Only things that help - low graphics, not to far vision and maybe a little problem which clears your unneeded memory like

Wow you already got your hands on the Steam version? You're magical.
LOL you think the Steam version will be different. Wow if it were they would have said they did a major client fix. All they want is your money. So go right ahead and give it to them. I have been dealing with these guys over this for years and they ignore all the complaints from many players about this. I can't wait to be proven right when it launches here.
Steam and the Standalone Version are Identical , except buying Diamonds is linked with your Steam Wallet.
Wow a gtx 645 Nice.
alsao keep in mind that alot of addons are no longer being worked on.AND they are not officially supported by gameforge.
if you would have less then 1.5 gb RAM - the game cannot crash because client starts crashing above 1.5....
