Abomination, use ?
I cant wrap my head around how to utilize the abomination. Basically the only good thing seems to be the mass buff/debuff, albeit it only works once and possibly the reflect-ability. But even considering those two, feel like every other creation has more going for it.
Whenever i bring the Abomination i basically immediately regret it.

Whats good about it ?

Hi. I am a new player , have not used a lot of the Abomination unit. But From what I see in its abilities, it has arguably the second most Hit points among all the minions, second to Bone Golem. I also believe that it is more suited as a support unit, good for shuffling the enemies around and buffing the allies. Its main attack ,practically speaking, will be the "Protect" ability that can reflect enemy damage, which could go well with the item "Spiked Head" that cause 80 stress damage to whoever attack the wearer.

I think it needs someone else to heal it, even though its ulti can heal itself a bit. All in all, it's a tank that is slightly worse than Bone Golem.

On low difficulty its just another protector, slightly worse bone golem is a good comparison really.
On extremely high difficulty anything that does percent maximum damage is a welcome tool, you can use its ult in combination with high spellpower finger of death to quickly one-two-tap enemy units.
Anywhere in-between its a bit underwhelming, iirc the most reliable way to use it is to just slot in a stress damage comp and use as a utility, protector and a guaranteed finisher.

@Bumc: the ultimate of Abomination, Break and Swallow(and its variants), does not deal percentage damage at all. Not only it does nothing to bosses(which is always the most difficult fights in the game), the skill effect heal 10 to 15 percent of vigor by killing an enemy, that healing effect is worse than the item that heal you for 25 percent of your life after any enemy was killed. A mediocre unit, but I like its meaty look : )

Wasn't it insta-kill below certain %stress threshold? Effectively % damage really.

And sure, bosses are tough but quite abusable, below EH-3 you can pretty much cheese them even with underleveled parties.

Boss parties are a different topic though, I'm pretty sure abom does slot in some of these (say, Grand Magister)

If you want to kill non boss units after they fell below certain HP, then I would recommend the Ghoul, it's a better finisher than ♥♥♥ with better buff.

Why abomination was censored?

Hi, finished the game couple of times with different compositions. Abomination worked for me in the following comp:

unfrozen, unfrozen, abomination, mummy

basically, used the stomp that increases accuracy on first turn, and the protection with spike counter buff for mummy on its second turn, then repeat. the unfrozen pounds on enemies, and protects/ heals when needed. takes some time to ramp up, but was smooth sailing by the 3rd world for me (at least easier than most comps I've already tried and won with). the mummy in front makes you crit almost constantly, but just make sure you prioritize survivability first in the early game. unfrozen with crits is insane.

Unfrozen has one of the best stance breaking skill in the game, I will try a playthrough using your squad next week.

Abomination is a great tank for a stress team. High health, regen, and a finisher on low stress enemies. I see people complaining about how enemies don't automatically die when at 0 sanity; Abominations wrath ability totally negates that drawback.

Dark Knight is way better with his Stress Stance when level 3. Just put a mummy and shade and a banshee in your ranks and your dark knight will deal 300+ stress damage each round to 4 enemies.

A lot of other units are better tank than Abomination but it is the one of the best looking unit imo.

Abomination is good with a Dread Build I find, has good damage, but really rises to the top when focused on Dread and Support. Weird as he is for a Tank, it's really the only way I find his to have any worth late game.

you are both correct. the damage done is not percentage of enemy health based, it is flat out DESTROY if the target is below 20% sanity.

the idea being that this is basically a one-two knockout, you cast finger of death, then hit with this. but then, I already do this with shades so...

Shades got their damage capped on claws for this reason.
Abomination at least doesn't restore full mana while finishing off the victim.
