How do I heal my minions in battle?
So far, just beat the first dungeon on Cakewalk, all I have seen as far as healing goes is the Lich. But, he has to kill one on my dudes in order to heal someone. Screw that! What use is this Lich skill anyway? Kill one of my four minions to heal another? Where is this useful, please?

And, back to my original question - are there any good ways to heal during combat? Perhaps I just haven't unlocked the minions yet that are good healers?

The Battle Eternal ability in the Ire tab of Talents will heal your entire party. It will also heal any remaining enemies so not very useful unless you can get at least 1 or 2 of them down first. I use Bone Golems who have a self-heal, and Ghouls who have a couple of ways of healing themselves.

Great. I haven't unlocked the Bone Golems or Ghouls yet. I need to check out what their unlock requirements are. Thanks!

You can check the Lost Soul's abilities for healing specific character of your team... ;)

Lost Soul? Is that one of the minions that need to be unlocked?

There's a talent in the Ire tree called Relentless Evil that provides party wide healing, each minion recovers 8 vigor at the start of their turn if Iratus has over 75 wrath. It requires a pretty significant investment into the tree so you'll have to push for XP for Iratus if you want it earlier on (Library, Stele map points, artifacts and consumables that boost Iratus XP gain).

Unfrozen can heal too

Well, with the lich I believe the intent is to summon a skeleton with his special ability, and then destroy that summoned unit to heal everyone else.

I just unlocked the lost soul, and I don't see how it's remotely useful. You can use it to heal one of your units, but then the next turn it damages that same unit for the same damage range that it healed?? I suppose it would work to heal if you use it just before you kill the last enemy, but that's pretty situational. Also all its other abilities that attack the enemy, give that enemy a buff, and all the abilities that help you, also hinder you. It seems completely useless and a liability if you're unlucky enough to take it into battle.

But for other healing, the dark knight can heal itself by draining the enemy. The mummy can sort of heal itself if you have a bunch of debuffs on your team, but not usually enough to do much. The lich is the main source of healing that I've found, but to use it you have to lose(or have lost) one unit, so you can summon a skeleton and then sacrifice it.

I like this game partly because of the Lost Soul. Such a great design, but it took me more than 100 hours to "get" it.

When I first healed for 30 I was baffled. And everybody in my team got +++ attack. Insane.

This is how it works, in theory:

Lets say you use Soul Soul Banshee Mummy.

Turn 1, both Souls buff the enemy (you gain Wrath fast because they do AOE attacks). The Banshee does the AOE too, all the enemies get debuffed (you gain more Wrath because AOE), any enemy that attacks the Mummy gets debuffed, the Mummy curses (debuff) or move enemies out of stances if really needed.

By turn 3 (2 is better, "wait" with the Soul on pos 3), you should have 60 wrath to use the Soul's ultimate. There are a ton of buffs and debuffs on the enemies. Now you can do a lot of damage...or heal for a lot, the Soul's healing is linked to attack value. Game over, in style, very rewarding.

The Souls should be upgraded to give +1/+1 first, then "move and ignore ward", then extra healing. Have fun.

Lost Soul also has a skill that grants 2 stacks of wards (or spec for 1 block 1 ward), her attack from the heal can be blocked by wards. Just about everything she does is a double-edged sword, so how you manage to heal a minion while it has extra ward to nullify the hit that comes next round is up to you.

If you plan to have Lost Soul as part of your line up, you should also focus on getting a few extra wards on your minions' parts.

Her heal is one of the better choices once you learn how to manage the drawback - it's instant, doesn't lock down a minion, and doesn't require you to have wrath or to sacrifice a minion either.
