can somebody please help me with installing a mod ?
hello, i have been playing this game for quite some time on and off.
I am playing without any mods, and found out recently that there are mods to make this game even more fun.

I have read some instructions on affecting mods into a game, opening the mod folder via a game menu, then download an extracted file into that folder opened by in-game menu.
but instead of showing button "load mod" . all i see is below the menu " failed to load mod- unable to import file and address blahblah" in red letter.

I think it's the problem from the mod folder address, because it's generated in some ghost folder that i can't get into normal way other than through the game drop down menu..

I don't know how to fix or make it work. I am really temped to suicide over this. can somebody tell me what i did wrong and fix it please?

So, the first thing that immediately comes to mind as an issue is that you're extracting a folder which has a mod folder inside of it. Normally I wouldn't suggest this, but you might have to yoink the mod folder outside of the first folder to use it. It's the first thing that comes to mind, since I just make my own mods for me to use and don't actually download any

Alright, give me an approximate amount of time to download a mod to test this myself, if you don't mind.
What mod did you download so I can make sure I'm getting everything right?

EDIT: I think I remembered what the issue would exactly be, but I don't know how to describe it since steam forums are beyond useless sometimes, lemme send you a friend request and we can go from there alright?

I honestly know very little about the mod, i just wanted to find some that can make it more realistic in ship speed and other stuffs, I think I downloaded SpecTRes_Improved_Realism_3.4. from the other post on here.

I do appreciate that , but hopefully i can understand the demonstration you kindly give me in the future, i am pretty clueless in this mod thing.. I do appreciate your help.

I have a few tips to share to maybe help you.

The MOD is in a zip file so when you view it after you download it , on the top of the file explorer window there should be an "Extract All" icon. Click that and it will just put the whole thing in another folder extracted for you. The name you should have for the folder is "SpecTRe's Improved Realism"

You should take that whole folder and copy it to:

C:\Users\YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME\AppData\Local\Evil Twin Artworks\Victory At Sea Pacific\Mods

each MOD you have goes in this folder.

Then in the MOD game menu you should see SpecTRe's Improved Realism.

click on it and it should become active.

the problem you are having is more than likely because the AppData part of the mod address is a "Hidden file" in windows...you have to manually change windows to "view hidden files"

Did you ever figure out how to install it? I am having the exact same problem. Yes view hidden files is enabled.

If you go to the main menu and click Create New Mod, you will get a new folder with your new MOD files and one of those will be the genericshipnames.csv. Just copy that to the MOD folder that you are using.
