All I found is the ship numbers that were in use. I'll mention two numbers. The first number shows the ships in use at the beginning of WW2 (date for the americans: 7th december 1941) and the second number will show the number of ships that were in use at the end of the pacific war (14th may 1945).

Battleships: 17 / 23
Fleet Carrier: 7 / 28
Escort Carrier: 1 / 71
Cruiser: 37 / 72
Destroyer: 171 / 377
Frigate: 0 / 361
Submarine: 112 / 232

... found a list with lots of informations

American vessels and their positions at the beginning of the pacific conflict and which date they arrived in the pacific. Very interesting page for this game:
http://www.ww2pacific.com/ww2.html

On this side you can even find informations about cruisers and destroyers. Some destroyer classes are missing in this game. Lots of old destroyers where given to the UK or were rebuilt as fast cargo ships and deminers.

if I understand that correctly, the americans get most of their modern units to the pacific war and the old ships were used on the east-coast of America or given to their allies.
