The 42 torpedo bombers got very close to their target without much disturbance. Around 80% got within range for a final approach but just one was able to release the torpedo before being shot down too, luckily that was a hit. Not a single torpedo bomber survived the attack on the second CV that was completely on its own.
But all of that was only possible because the Japanese dedicated 90% of their resources to raiding Midway. Just a few sporadic waves of Zeros was all it took to almost completely wipe out all bomber squads.
I find that a bit harsh.
Awesome mane, excited for you! I mentioned removing the hud and a dev said they would take a look so hopefully.
While the ships receved only minor damage themselves, they wiped out the Japanese invasion, stopping the hostile takeover of Midway dead in its tracks and devastate the enemy's carrier force.
Finally the tables have turned in our favor paving the way to commence our raid against the Gilbert Islands.
trying to get the lexington and saratoga the ♥♥♥♥ outta there...my yorktown group of 4 carriers and 4 battleships are still forming at hawii so things are not looking good.
update, rip lexington
http://prntscr.com/kv9o89 only the Saratoga is alive engaging in a gun battle with the soryo, kaga and shokaku carriers.
Valiantly the Saratoga sunk the Kaga and was destroyed by air forces from the remaining 2 carriers.
The Japanese's Midway fleet has a tendency to launch fighters against midway island, it is possible to use this to lure them away.
Still, be prepared for losing many, if not most or all, of your bombers when fighting against enemy carriers.
Yes, I hate that every plane you send to a waypoint will return immediately once it has reached its destination. In aviation terminology there is a thing called LOITERING. It exists for a reason you know. And if you loose track of your target, don't just give up. Fly where you last spotted it! It's so frustrating and takes a lot of micro.
And I haven't even talked about bugs...
But that doesn't work in bridge (campaign map) mode.
