Error, "Failed to initialize player", displays when starting game.
When starting the game via Steam, error message displays:

Failed to initialize player Failed to initialize Direct3D. Make sure you have at least DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration in display settings. InitializeEngineGraphics failed

Once I click "OK", Unending Dusk promptly terminates. My PC specs from Speccy are below. If you need any more info from me, feel free to let me know!

The link below is to the DxDiag.txt file I pulled from the DirectX Diagnostic Tool:

I tried to post the contents of the DxDiag.txt file here, but it exceeds the number of characters allowed.

Thanks! We'll take a look.

Unfortunately this seems like an issue players have running Unity games in general. If you haven't tried already, install the latest nvidia drivers and verify integrity of game files. You can also try running 'sfc /scannow' in command prompt to fix any corrupt win10 system files. The dxdiag.txt appears fine and your computer specs are good.

Awesome! Thank you two for the timely responses. I'll try the suggested steps and now that I know this is a Unity issue, I'll check into that as well and post my results and findings here. :steamhappy:

New drivers were freshly installed and all files were verified. I ran sfc /scannow and it completed with this message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

I've restarted my PC and Unending Dusk will still not run.

I've uploaded the CBS.log file to my Dropbox:

Try going into your Windows Device Manager and disable the integrated video card (Intel HD Graphics 4000).

Sadly, after disabling the Intel HD Graphics 4000 integrated GPU and restarting, I'm still getting the same error. *sigh*

After doing some research on this error in relation to Unity, I've found that games that include a mode to run in open GL seems to do the trick (See Dead Cells). Is there a way I can do that with Unending Dusk?

I'll try to make a build with OpenGL support. Fingers crossed :steamhappy:

Sorry for the late response. It's been a busy weekend!

So here's an update:

OOOHHHHHH SNAP!!!!! Unending Dusk updated to v1.0.7 and it TOTALLY WORKS!!!!! I didn't have to add the command to force the GL core at all. Thank you so much for your quick responses and patience while working with me on this issue!

Also, I'm in QA, so I hope my "bug" reporting here will help anyone with the game in the future.

YOU GUYS ROCK!

***UPDATE***

I FOUND THE ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSING THIS ISSUE!!!!! It's a program that was installed on my PC called, "Duet Display" (https://www.duetdisplay.com/). It kept me from playing a lot of games that came out a few years ago and a few recent games. I came across a thread where someone said uninstalling Duet will stop preventing games from running. So if anyone has Duet Display installed, remove it.
