How to change server region on an official competitive server?

My friend and I are trying to race together on an official competitive server. We live in the same city/location, but the ACC shows different regions for us.

It shows US REGION for me and EU REGION for him.

How do I change the server region in a competitive race so we can race together?

maybe just restart the pc/internet connection very rarely will I show up on the EU region.

and usually when I do it goes away after I close the game.

The EU server is probably more populated lol.

Anyways you cant actually change it with out using a VPN or something as far as I know.

We tried restarting the PC, but the internet doesn't seem to be the problem.

It's weird because he used to play in the US region, but he can't anymore. It just shows the EU region and SA 80.

Maybe you're right, VPN seems like a good way.

We wanted an option in the game.
