What Wheel to Buy?
I've never used a wheel before so I know nothing about them. What is a good beginner wheel? I don't need anything fancy, I just want something decent that I can race with without breaking the bank.

Really nothing wrong with for your first experiences with a wheel.
Yep. I also use T300RS+T-LCM(which i got very cheap off a friend who didn't like it bc it was too hard to brake for him. He went back to the atrocious pedals with the rubber damper installed. what a pleb) Anyways i used this combo for hundreds of hours. Forcewise T300 isn't really far off cheaper DDs. Only thing can be overheating as others mentioned. But to my expirience this mostly happens if you set force too high anyways so it also clips the FFB alot so that settings are wrong anyways becauise you lose alot of detail. Also it very quiet especially compared to gear or gear/belt combo wheels. Tried a G29 owned by another friend and the noise from it makes me wanna puke. Its like a toy wheel compared to my T300. So in my opinion T300RS is very workable wheel if you are on a budget. And the T-LCM Pedals where an absolute gamechanger. Was a waaay better upgrade than a DD could have ever been. Could never get into trailbraking properly with the pedals that came with the T300. With T-LCM it came just naturally if you set required braking force to 70+kg. Very easy to do. Would take that pedals over a better wheel again any day

Yeah, t300 + tlcm is in my opinion a good and cheap solution for a beginner with low budget. Before i upgraded my rig i used this combo (together with a playseat challenge) for hundred of hours in all kind of rally games, also in forza games and kart games. Never overheated, easy setup and all games worked with them without a major problem.
If someone isnt sure how many times a week or in a month he will use his wheel, its a good solution.

Again, it depend on price too.
For the T300 + pedals price I would rather gather double than that for a cheap DD because that combo is about 3x the price of a G29 here and it works perfectly fine.

thrustmasters t500 is actually a good choice to start, thrustmasters has an full ecosystem for their addons and wheelbases and their price are not skyrocketed as the fanatec wheels

If you think oyu will play racing sims for life moza r5 bndle is very good being a budget dd also r3 but at that point g29 is slighly better value

Forget the Logitech junk that serves no purpose and is just noisy.
Agree! Buy a dd wheel straight away, for example the cheapest moza dd. G29 is a waste of time, I should know cause spent years with it.

i can also say the TLCM load cell pedals are pretty nice my thrustmaster tmx pedal spring went limp after 1-2 month(still works if you just use a resistance band looped around throttle pedal hooked to the desk/stand above lol.
this was the super cheap 2 pedal set and i bought the TLCM right away so def get the pro version of the t300 or tmx/t150 as it has the 3 pedal t3pa that is better then the 2 pedal set.

anyways i probably have 2000-3000 hours on the thrustmaster TLCM pedals probably closer to 3000 or more.

anyways i would still say there may be better options out there now days there is not a ton of adjust ability on the TLCM you can at least buy many different springs/elastamere/rubber for the load cell.

personally feel like i wish the throttle was a stronger spring now as i have trouble feeling it anymore and sometimes find my foot pressing it down a bit on accident.

anyways its crazy to think that a g29 is still 350$ these days in some regions and that some how a thrustmaster setup is 900?
i paid 280$ on amazon for my t300RS setup and sold it for 280$ on facebook marketplace 2 months later after i got my fanatec csl DD.
g29 are often 170-200$ here thrustmaster tmx/t150 are often on sale as low as 140-200$ but i think they are fazing out the tmx/t300 for the t248 and other models that just dont see as good to me as the t300 at least prob a little step up from the tmx/t150 but not sure they look slow to react.

also on ACC when i was using thrustmaster wheel bases i would use a custom FFB .lut file by tortellini on youtube it really made a huge difference back then and i would imagine that this would really help on a g29 as well as it was a night and day difference in the past on the thrustmaster tmx/t300 used the same .lut file for both.

sadly many people complain these days about games not supporting the gear/belt drive wheels as much anymore and having bad FFB on those types of wheels its really a shame if that is true but i see many people saying it so it must have some truth.

anyways to me i dont think you should really buy a gear/belt wheel base for over 300$ and to me the t300 is the one worth that price and that is even a stretch because DD wheel bases can be had for not much more.
a g29-tmx/t150 are worth more like 150-200$ at the most to me ive seen them on sale for 125-150$ in local stores as well so its sad to hear some people have to pay double/triple that price for honestly very entry level lowest entry point basically.

i would probably just wait and buy a DD wheel base and spend like 600-1000$ or i would totally cheap out and buy the cheapest used thing i could find if i was not sure and hopefully spend 100-150$ at the most lol. if your not a active sim racer with a wheel base i think anything with FFB will be nice like a g29 or t150/tmx find one used if your on the fence still if your lucky you will find a t300 or a fanatec belt drive or something for cheap.

Import taxes: 20% + 17% + transportation insurance + transportation fee
Add "internal transportation fee + insurance"
Add "seller profit" of between 20% to 50%
Add "more taxes over selling the product"
and you have an increase of 50% price "without seller profit", with seller profit of 20% you have a total increase of +80% (+50% = 150 then multiply it by 1.2 and voila, 180 = +80%, this considering the profit iss 20% and usually it is price on some good sale)
With a profit of 50% it increases the price by 125% over the original price at the original country.
So a 280$ T300 being 586$ here (about +100% increase) is not uncommon, much less a TLCM pedal being 392$

A G29 being 348$ here (one of the lowest prices atm) when compared to 170$~200$ is about what is expected here in my country (and again consider the min wage, monthly wage, is R$ 1400, 273$)

@goblueteam: switch throttle and clutch springs on the tlcms, will result in a far better throttle experience. Or buy a stronger spring for 5 bucks.

yea i have actually been considering putting the clutch spring on throttle as it does feel slightly stronger or maybe just newer sense i do not use it really.

well that really is sad about all those extra fees the gov is probably just pocketing honestly really terrible.

the strange thing is everything gets imported to the USA too more or less i wonder why there is such a massive price difference and extra import fees and taxes and all that where your paying double the retail price in the end or more.

its just so strange we see this type of stuff in the USA sometimes when supply is limited "scammers" buy all the limited inventory like graphics cards for retail and then try to resell at double or triple the price on ebay or facebook market place and stuff..of course the gov still gets there tax money when stuff is sold on these sites so they dont seem to care.

it seems like the officials making the rules are the scammers in your case lol(actually really not funny)someone is making a lot of money it seems and none of the population is benefiting from the extra taxes/fees.

just a small group of officials and elites probably burning money/resources away while normal people struggle.

sadly its similar everywhere at least in the USA we get robbed in a way that we still can have access to decent things for decent prices usually.
but yea still billions of tax dollars that residents/tax payers paid disappearing all the time with no trace and were just supposed to keep giving them 20-30% of are earnings every week/year with no right to know where are tax money is disappearing then they come up with all these billion dollar projects that dont help anyone out.

its also extremely horrible with the healthcare system forced to have insurance so they can up charge 500x the price for everything when people become billionaires through health care/insurance and pharmaceuticals you know theres some major corruption going on its just really sad how greedy people are willing to let millions upon millions of people suffer so a few can make some money to waste on random bs.

well that took a turn haha its just upsetting to think about the worst part is it feels like things will never change the people that want to be in charge only want it so they can help themselves not anyone else.

hopefully someday we can all have the same access that is acceptable it just seems the more time goes on the more rules regulations and fees a normal person has to abide by that essentially keeps people in a very low place pretty much stuck in a box with no way out.
its like they keep giving out wage increases of 5% but then raise the living expenses 20% so your always at a deficit and never actually progressing.

anyways thats why i play video games haha to try and keep my mind off that garbage.
\m/ May 21, 2024 @ 12:31pm
Clutch spring is stronger, its thicker. Throttle spring was the first thing i changed on the tlcms, most of my gaming/driving time i spend into rally games and a throttle without the right feeling will send you faster into a tree than you can spell ACC. :D

Why buy a TM T300 when you can buy the MOZA R5 for the same price. $459
DmAnd May 22, 2024 @ 3:53pm
I would say a good starter wheel would be something cheap but not to cheap as to leave a bad taste in your mouth reguarding ffb and wheels.

A logitech G920 or even the 923 that has trueforce for some games
On the Thrustmaster side, the T300 is a good wheel and has some nice detailed ffb while remaining smooth and quiet.

There are even cheap DD bundles available now but i don't know how good they are so i can not recommend them personally

Side note... a couple months ago, i tried my old G27 just for the hell of it. I couldn't believe how loud that thing was. It was friggen hilarious
