1. First play for a week or so, then buy tracks DLCs. But read carefully for what you pay for because Red Bull Ring and Imola are part of mixed content DLCs (same with 2023 season).
2. Without DLCs the game is still fun (even if you prefer GT4 and GT2 more than tracks at first). It's a quite deep with reasonable big content and options. There is no bul...it like in AMS2 (PC2 is still far better IMHO:P). So I don't think you will miss some tracks for a while.
3. GT4 DLC is very good because these cars are fun for beginners. You can also mix GT3 and GT4 on the grid if I remember.
4. GT2 is the latest option to buy and if you don't have a reasonable PC then Nurburgring DLC is worth of research because it's huge track and I read some comments complaining about frame drops.
From what I observed CPU and RAM are the most important HW parts for ACC but you probably know it already. I mentioned about it because of 4th point of my post.
NOTE:
If you like F1 then after completing ACC and want some great single player experience I would recommended it as a next buy. It has the best career mode from all racers on the market.
If you prefer MP then I think you can ignore F1 franchise TBH.
Sorry for Offtopic but because you are new to sim-racing games I think it could be helpful.
P.S. If you play Dirt Rally 2.0 and liked it then ok:) In my personal opinion WRC10 or WRC Evolution is a much better choice than EA/CM production. Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo is also a fantastic game, physic wise and remind me a WRC series made by Evolution Studios on Playstation (the guys who made Motorstorm and Driveclub). It has problems with wheelbases but there are some mods to repair this issue. There is a demo version of it on Steam so give it a try as well as Richard Burns Rally and Asetto Corsa.
Curious, is trackIR recommended for this game? I only have one screen, and am wondering if head tracking would be useful or annoying?
2. In my opinion is annoying because most of the time it doesn't work as it should and is not comfortable. With more sim-racing HW VR is also not a good thing because you see nothing but screen (I don't have VR and for these money I would rather buy 2 additional used monitors).
But if you have one screen and just start your journey with sim-racing I'm sure you would be happy without it for a long time. It all depends if you 'catch the bait of this genre' so spending huge amount of money at the beginning is not a wise idea.
Have a good fun mate!
It will be a real Assetto corsa game, not just a GT spinoff
This. There's a ton of hype around Evo, but given Kunos' track record (no pun intended), Evo likely won't be ironed out for at least several months after launch. ACC is a stable finished product to hold people over until Evo is done cooking.
I wouldn't buy it for just racing sims but I have it from when I used it for DCS.
