Which DLC To Buy?
As i said in another topic I'm a beginner to racing; never used a proper wheel & pedals and only played Dirt 2.0 previously. I've now ordered a Moza R5 bundle and am planning on buying ACC when it next goes on sale. I'm a total noob, but I plan to treat it pretty seriously and try really learn to be a good driver.

With that said, besides the base game, which dlc do I need? I'm ok starting in GT4 to learn, but besides the GT4 pack, what should I pick up when the Halloween sale drops?

I would say prioritize the track packs. Not many people race GT2s or GT4s online, and having as many tracks as possible will give you the most opportunity for finding races.

just buy the base game first and see if you like it(?)

I agree with both @FaultyJawa and @Anderzhere.

1. First play for a week or so, then buy tracks DLCs. But read carefully for what you pay for because Red Bull Ring and Imola are part of mixed content DLCs (same with 2023 season).

2. Without DLCs the game is still fun (even if you prefer GT4 and GT2 more than tracks at first). It's a quite deep with reasonable big content and options. There is no bul...it like in AMS2 (PC2 is still far better IMHO:P). So I don't think you will miss some tracks for a while.

3. GT4 DLC is very good because these cars are fun for beginners. You can also mix GT3 and GT4 on the grid if I remember.

4. GT2 is the latest option to buy and if you don't have a reasonable PC then Nurburgring DLC is worth of research because it's huge track and I read some comments complaining about frame drops.

From what I observed CPU and RAM are the most important HW parts for ACC but you probably know it already. I mentioned about it because of 4th point of my post.

NOTE:

If you like F1 then after completing ACC and want some great single player experience I would recommended it as a next buy. It has the best career mode from all racers on the market.

If you prefer MP then I think you can ignore F1 franchise TBH.

Sorry for Offtopic but because you are new to sim-racing games I think it could be helpful.

P.S. If you play Dirt Rally 2.0 and liked it then ok:) In my personal opinion WRC10 or WRC Evolution is a much better choice than EA/CM production. Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo is also a fantastic game, physic wise and remind me a WRC series made by Evolution Studios on Playstation (the guys who made Motorstorm and Driveclub). It has problems with wheelbases but there are some mods to repair this issue. There is a demo version of it on Steam so give it a try as well as Richard Burns Rally and Asetto Corsa.

Thanks for the input, everyone. I'm just waiting for the fall sale with my eye on the complete bundle if it drops down to 25-30% off.

Curious, is trackIR recommended for this game? I only have one screen, and am wondering if head tracking would be useful or annoying?

1. No problem;)

2. In my opinion is annoying because most of the time it doesn't work as it should and is not comfortable. With more sim-racing HW VR is also not a good thing because you see nothing but screen (I don't have VR and for these money I would rather buy 2 additional used monitors).
But if you have one screen and just start your journey with sim-racing I'm sure you would be happy without it for a long time. It all depends if you 'catch the bait of this genre' so spending huge amount of money at the beginning is not a wise idea.

Have a good fun mate!

Hey TrackiR highly recommended, at least by me! I would jump into the British and American tracks, but I also love the international pack, haha! Eventually you will want them all. But, biased since I have watched so much racing there (on TV), I would go with the American pack and the GT4 pack. If you are outside of the US though, you may prefer the British pack, Snetterton is a highly underrated track in terms of fun! The international one gives you a taste of everything, so some would prefer that, with Kylama (sp?) and Japan being fun and I love Laguna Seca, especially section 3. I guess the 'everything is great' does not help much! :) Have fun, enjoy!

Save you money and wait for AC Evo in early access in january.
It will be a real Assetto corsa game, not just a GT spinoff

Plus Evo is releasing to Early-Access and will likely be in ongoing development for around 12 months based on how the past games went. Chances are it will launch to EA in a poorly optimized state with a bunch of issues alongside limited assets and features. Highly doubt it is replacing ACC or any other racing game for a while!

This. There's a ton of hype around Evo, but given Kunos' track record (no pun intended), Evo likely won't be ironed out for at least several months after launch. ACC is a stable finished product to hold people over until Evo is done cooking.

Trackir works good. Not only can you see who's next to you but you can look to the apex of turns.

I wouldn't buy it for just racing sims but I have it from when I used it for DCS.
