Change of weather and wet tyres
I'm doing a race and then the game says that the wet tyres are optimum. I make my pit stop to change the tyre compound yet my new tyres are overheating and i'm sliding at the slightest hint of power during corners. Wet weather and wet track conditions should mean that the wet compound is better and more stable than the dry but they aren't.

What the f**k is going on?

Tip 1: dont listen to game eng.
Tip 2: if it is working dont change.
Tip 3: disable game engineer
Tip 4: dont listen to anything game tells you aside from penalties and warnings
Tip 5: in case you dont disable game engineer, dont listen to game eng.

This isn't a solution, if the devs aren't fixing the game engineer then they need to use some of the money they have earned from the Nords cash grab DLC pack and pay a staff member.

It never was fixed ever since and eng more often than not tell you it is ok to go to slicks when it is not and tell you top go to wets when it is still fine to keep slicks.
If you feel it becomes undrivable because of wet you go and change it, if not then you just dont.

Unless you are not just trying to vent, it would helpful if you had provided a little more information, like car, track, environmental conditions and to a lesser degree some race information. Now as guess, when rain starts during the race and it doesn't start as heavy rain, it takes some time, between 3-6 laps before the conditions truly favor wet tires. The in game help is too quick to advise tire change. This is especially true in bigger fields (more cars) when constant flow of cars keeps the racing line driveable on dry tires a lot longer than the less used parts of the track.
When thinking about changing tires consider at least the following
1. Am I still able to stay on the track on the tires I have on now
2. How long is left on the race (time or laps)
3. Is a pit stop mandatory anyway
4. How many seconds/lap am I losing compared to dry conditions without tire change
5. The best wet tire lap will not be as fast as best dry tire lap, compare your expectations to the current situation
6. Pitting and changing tires costs between 50 and 100 seconds (depending on pit lane length), am I losing more than that on track with the time left on the race
7. How long is the rain going to last, will the track dry up again during race
8. The correct wet tire pressure is more dependent on the amount of water on the track than the air or track temperature

yea its just something you have to learn usually its not the right time to change your tires if you want to be competitive lol
typically you wait for the dry tires to turn blue and start struggling usually you can just tell because the car is hard to control...also checking in your pit stategy menu while driving it will show if the track is damp or wet and if its light rain or medium/heavy and so on.

there is a point where the dry tire starts getting slower then the wet tire when it starts raining usually a lap or 2 but if its really light rain you may just be better to stay on cold dry tires especially if its only a 10 min light shower or something eventually you just learn when the time is right...

theres also a point when its drying out that dry tires will be better(lap times) typically you wait as long as you can to put dry tires on usually your wet tires will be turning red and about to explode lol or in some cases you have to pit inside the pit window so you might have to suffer for a lap or 2 on a wet track with dry tires....dry tires will grain if you drive them on a wet track and basically be worse for the rest of the time you use that set.

but yea usally the engineer is a lap or 2 early on changing to wet tires
same goes for drys lol

also wet tires are more likely to puncture at higher temps now so once there turning red and prob 35-36 psi your probably getting in the danger zone and could lose a tire if your not careful

most of the time you dont ever want to pit unless you really have to because of a pit window or because your going to lose more time lapping slower on the wrong tire.
most pit stops take at least 1 min to get in and do the tire change so you have to be sure that doing a tire change is actually needed like if theres 5mins left in a race chances are you can finish it and lose less time than if you did a pit stop.

so yea...idk lots of things to consider if your really being competitive more or less if the car is hard to control put on the wet tires.....you also have to adjust the tire psi in the pit strategy for the conditions. sometimes high psi drys can work or low psi wets depending on temps/conditions that is why rain makes races so interesting turns it into a strategy game.
