It does not include the two free cars we got recently (McLaren Evo and Ford) and have to rely on user gathered data. Not sure, how reliable that is.
Porsche: ECU 8
All Other Cars: ECU 1
If some car is wrong will not be by much, in doubt if it is not a Porsche set engine map to 1 and go.
I see there is no F296 detailed data yet, it’s a shame.
I like to understand things, of course ECU 1 is often the fastest, but not always and other values may be more suitable depending on your driving style.
Either Kunos didn’t implement this parameter correctly, or they just don’t care about informing players.
You won’t be faster or slower, just more or less comfortable.
I can only see it as in "I want to floor throttle earlier" but with lower power ECU when you need you can not have as much power, if you control with your foot the ECU can remain the same and I find it way easier (and more manageable also more "reliable") to do it with my foot or even gear because sometimes some slide or loss of grip at some wheel may require more or less power to be corrected, what adjusting ECU would lock it to that, also it would be many ECU changes per lap and 1 mistake at ECU selection on the fly would deliver a different result, maybe even a spin or a longer slide either resulting in offtrack or some danger.
For "not trying to go anywhere neear the limit" and just driving as it goes, maybe some weaker ECU make sense, but I see ECU more as in "saving fuel" strategy (what sometimes may be just a ttiny bit) or maybe irl it is to save the engine that was used for many races or more than 1 race and team identified probllems (not a problem ingame).
But here's a complex example :
Porsche 991 GT3-R & Porsche 991ii GT3-R (EVO)
Level Description
1 Normal power & consumption least progressive throttle map
2 Normal power & consumption progressive throttle map
3 Normal power & consumption aggressive throttle map
4 Normal power & consumption linear throttle map (Editor's note : Commonly used for Wet)
5 Qual power, high consumption, least progressive throttle map
6 Qual power, high consumption, progressive throttle map
7 Qual power, high consumption, aggressive throttle map
8 Qual power, high consumption, linear throttle map (Editor's note : Commonly used for Dry)
9 Low power, low consumption, progressive throttle map
Pace Car Map
10 Very slow map and low consumption for Pace Car situations
Imagine you choose 5,6 7 or 8 here, you will have no limitation in power, just different levels of throttle sensibility : you floor faster or slower to get the same perfs.
Porsche is ECU 8, everything else ECU 1 (as far as I remmeber) and in doubt set ECU 1 if it is not a Porsche.
I think "for realism" the maps should be mapped by the player or coming with a default map for each value of ECU.
Kunos simplified it not allowing changed to the maps.
