They are badly designet in terms of cooling and will suffer from the following issues you can all read about on the internet and see enough videos on youtube.
1. forcefeedback fading because motor gets hot and power will be reduced
2. even with the fan ramping up to very noisy speeds the motor still gets hot
3. when the ffb motor gets hot, the whole wheel smells
4. some wheels even fail or are dead after that overheating
I had 3 Thrustmaster wheels now.
1. T300RS died due overheating with a horrible burn smell.
2. T500RS died while racing without any reason and was dead after 2 weeks of usage.
3. The second T300RS i got was ok when i left the fan on 100% all the time to prevent overheating.
Btw. the same happened to a german streamer that bought the TX Wheel and had the burned smell and ffb loss after 2 days. TM support is not worth a single word.
For GT Sports i have a Thrustmaster T-GT that was on sale for 499€ and this wheel has a proper design. Stays cool, silent, no smell, no ffb fade. Perfect!
So, the only wheels from Thrustmaster that have NO issues are:
- T-GT
- TS-WX
- TS-PC Racer
But at this price range i would definitly get a Fanatec CLS Elite Kit which has a LOT smoother FFB, better motor, better and more detailed FFB overall and it has the better pedals.
How much money can you spend?
Thanks for the reply, yes i've seen the TS WX on Amazon for 630€. This steering is a very good one for simracing ? (the compatibility about Raceroom and some arcade games only on PC).
Yes very good. I had a TS PC and that was smooth and this has a better rim. Get a guarantee with it and you will be fine.
The Lg 29/920 are ok, but they tend to jump and overheat a hole lot. I have one and it is a terrible choice for a race sim. Arcade or ETS2 are perfect for Lg.
Fanatec are expencive... something like a Simmagic (a low cost DD wheel) will be much better.
I have an rig which is movable coz i use my big desk also for other games.
So the TS-PC is screwed to the desk and the desk is screwed to the wall :D
I use the wheel at 75% of ffb in the driver. Its enough for me.
The standard TS-PC wheel is really cool and has less weight. The alcantara is durable and i dont use gloves.
Additionally i have an ferrari wheel (round one) for rally games and for example AC1.
Wheel works really fine, its quite as hell and after long sessions (4-5h) there were no problems.
This wheel is worth its money.
You can also use the wheel in late evening sessions. You have only ensure that the forces do not cause noises (moving desk and so on) :)
After 2 years or so i missed my wheel when i bought f1 2019 to play with a controller. So i decided to buy a more casual wheel and im playing with a Thrustmaster Tmx atm. It works good enough for the price.
So it all depends on what you can spare. Ofcourse everybody whants a fanatec wheel for 800 bucks. But if you are to casual of dont have enough penny a tmx will profide enough fun to enjoy arcade racers or sim racing!!
No no no. Only in terms of support not innovation or technology.
To be fair once you hit a certain price you might as well go with a DD and save that extra.
