Well I only have a controller so I don't know if shifting would work well. People on YouTube and Reddit are saying you can't play the game with a controller and everyone will hate you if you do.
I don't even care about playing online. I just want to play single player if there is enough content for that. So I think I should be able to play with a controller.
Good, I think I'll try the game when I get paid this weekend. I've never used a wheel on any games. I don't have a place where I can set one up, and I'm more comfortable with the controller anyway.
Is there a enough single player content to keep going for a while?

It is the same space I would use for my computer + chair, still if it is to return to gamepad I rather not play any sim.
You might need to at least know how to shift down and back up in order to reverse... so at least have keys handy for that, in case you need to back up sometime.
No, singleplayer is barebones and the AI is braindead.
If you mean "career and interesting AI" then no.
