Multiplayer VS AI
I was only racing with AI since i started playing this game, but about a week ago i decided to enter Multiplayer races. It's really fun because you are racing with real people but as i entered more lobbies i realized there are some problems, problems like everyone crashing to each others' cars sometimes intentionally, sometimes not intentionally (Anyhow, this makes the races harder to keep up) and the unbalanced nature of the lobbies. In the lobbies i entered, there are racers that just started along with the very skilled racers so there is a massive gap, therefore i couldn't find racers that are matched to my skill/my speed, i probably found like 1-3 people in about 5 lobbies i entered. Also there is a lack of variety for these lobbies, so all the races take place at Monza or Spa in GT3 catagory (Nürbürgring or Brands if lucky).

When i look back to Singleplayer AI races, i almost don't see any of these problems, i can hop on any track i want, in any GT catagory along with the racers that have skill about mine. Only problem gotta be (and this is the problem that pushes me back to Multiplayer) AI seems like to be only following a singular racing line and almost always brakes at the same coordinate. This makes the AIs' moves easier to foresee so you can drive pass them without crashing to them, thus makes the Singleplayer experience less interesting, but at the same time, it isn't "interesting" to see some toxics deciding to crash willingly or enter a lobby that you only race with yourself (Since more skilled/not crashed drivers are 40 seconds away and the newer/crashed players are 10 seconds away) in Monza.

What do y'all think about Multiplayer and Singleplayer? Which one is better in which way? And is there a solution for these problems? I'd like to know.

Take a look at LowFuelMotorsport.

They have skill based matchmaking, so you'll likely race with similar skilled opponents. And their reporting and stewarding system takes care of all the toxic people. 1 month ban for a first offense, 3 months for repeated ones.

What difficulty is your ai ?
I find pretty hard to race with ai , but you must put a difficulty thats is difficult.
For me is 97 and 100 aggression.
I race with ai many times side by side for many corners .
And if ai its quicker than you they will abuse you !!!!!!!!
Ai make me very careful at multplayer , i can race on one lane with other car at my side , i can predict when the quicker car will make his move and give space and i take my time when i want to overtake, i will make it when its safe .
I have good Experience from multiplayer mode . Beacause i play with Respect , somehow i take it back .

I love offline , big races with saves , pitstops , day night , dry rain .
Amazing .
I you are correct , at online , a few tracks, a few cars .
Only at lfm you can find something else.
But you must have time , to be there when the race start .
And i haven't.
I want to get in and start race .

My AI difficulty is 90% Skill, 95% Aggression, been a while since i raced with AI tho. I believe i can keep up if i increase the skill and aggression. And yes, AI is a great way to practice with much more variety for GT catagories and tracks.

Update: Sadly i can't register for LFM i guess, i'm at SA of 65 i guess. And they only have two servers that one has 80 and other has 95 SA limit (?).

Hey, I have not done LFM but when I decided to try online racing, I realized that my safety rating had always been on in single player since I started the game a few years ago (you can turn it off in SP), so my rating was really low, like maybe 50 or 55. If you set up a 20 min SP race and race close and clean, you can get that up very quickly. Or do online, which is mostly what I did but just be very careful of the people who do not care there is someone on the other end, it becomes almost a 6th sense. I got mine up to 85 within a few weeks. I think you still have run some hotlaps online, as well, to get into LFM, something like that, to show you are not super slow, but I am unsure how that works.

Well i increased my SA by mostly Singleplayer races, because in multiplayer i don't think i can come close (because everyone from slower and faster than me are away) nor clean because people like to crash when near by. I'll probably race some singleplayer race and increase my SA mostly by that. Interesting that you can disable SA in singleplayer tho.

its pretty low , put agression at max , then just a little the time rise up the difficalty .
you are begginer , i am 97 and online i am not average , i am slower than the most!
but i end up high , at first 10 because the others get killed like american bar !
as you gain at difficulty the ai became more and more good.
for sa rating , dont see it , if you are clean and respectfull you will see that you will be 80 and more at no time .
sa its not just race without incidents , i lost sa with clean and borring race , and i gain with races when i touch others but i save incidents and bad situations and i race side by side or really close , either i am back either i am front .
its very good sim , give love to all tracks and cars .
and use the SAVE , start big races and play them when you have time with saves among .
you must be calm and casious at endurance races .
play with mix categories , gt3 and gt4 , after some time all the track will have cars everywhere , so beutifull.
but remember , ai is damp at pit stops , so make yours like them for fair fight , they are idiots at strategy .

do you play with wheel ?
or gamepad?

sorry for my bad english , i wrote from pc and it doesnt correct me .

I've just drove on 95% Skill and 100% Aggression just now and it's such a rush, after passing the last two guys (I always start from the last position), the others are seconds faster than my average track time. So they end up being far away from me. I need to work my way up to be faster meanwhile being safe (because AI racers make it seems easy, when i try to be faster than what i already am, i just crash)

Yes, i've entered some longer endurance races too, saving really does help but if there is no important reason to leave the game, i think that ruins the experience. So i generally don't save and try to not to mistakes.

I play with a G29. I have 34 hours on ACC atm.

nice , if you want make and the qualify , dont run to rise the difficulty , make it slow , the goal is to have fun .
with qualify the grid is more safe , because the cars are start the race as should be by teams strenght .

that is the bad at multiplayer , fast people are lazy to play the qualy , and they begin from the back and THEY DEMAND TO GET AT FIRST PLACES REAL QUICK , and they kill or abuse the others ! such a lazy KIDS !
i recognize them after all that hours , and i step aside to go away , the most of the time i pass them again when they are DEAD .

idk i think faster people start at the back so they actually have to use some race craft and just are not lapping the whole race on there own and actually dont care about finishing first.

at least for me it just isnt exciting to start at the front when you know your racing mostly slower people sure if theres a group of similar pace it makes sense to run a normal qauly.

the real problem is everyone should be treated the same on track and some people just get upset about silly things and dont want to let a faster guy through instead they start doing really bad defense and swerving all over the place its pretty ridiculous

usually if im coming up on a good driver even that is 2 seconds a lap slower it will still be a good battle because i can still slow down a little and if defense is done properly its no issue at all and usually end up taking 1-2 laps to get around them.

honestly i just think some of you guys need to get used to racing around other people someone faster starting behind should not even be in your head people are going to be faster/slower thats just how racing works.

sadly there is not a ton of options to race at the time i can race at so doing LFM has about 5 people same with the competition server and other races lol so its really hard to worry about finishing first or doing anything other than mess around for me.

are you talking about your self or generally ? are you average or slow ? if you are not then how do you have an opinion in this ? if you talk about your self , i dont write my comment for you .
read what i wrote , i have many hours and i can see the animal boy , not every fast driver , i talk about this guy who hasnt patient , and they are a lot .
and because we talk and for our selfs , i can race with you side by side for all the track and i dont touch you .
in coclusion , i am average , i know what i am talking , i dont speak about fast drivers , they have patient , they want to race , i talk about LAZY fast drivers , who want AND dont take the qualy AND be infrond in 2 laps !
lacivert Jan 26, 2024 @ 12:37pm
I always start singleplayer races from last because atleast i can pass some cars (I usually attend qualifying in multiplayer). If i start where my qualifying provided, i'll just stand at my position and even go down on place because i tend to lose control of my car or not do the laps as good as i did back at qualifying.

But if you look from another angle, if i start from the qualifying position, it is much safer thinking the slower guys are gonna be behind and the faster ones will be ahead of you. Therefore less danger of fast guys trying to go up in rank and ramming some cars while doing so.

So it is kind of a give and take situation, if you start from behind, you can atleast pass some cars. If you start from your qualifying position you are safer.

you will become better day by day , and dont forget , brake early , take the turn safe and make good exit so you carry speed at the straight , if you brake late , you will get uncomfortable at the turn and make bad exit and never will have good speed at straights .
i say brake early because every new racer brake late . so the early for many people means correct .

Well from my latest races, i've realized that i need to take the brake late but intensely because my problem is driving "too safe". When i get into that 95% skill race, at every turn i made i got away from the guy ahead of me by 0,1 seconds. Which was annoying because i drove my car to the limit and they passed me so i went "well then i'm not pushing it hard enough" so i pushed it hard enough to total it at the first lap.
