Time of Day.
Anyone know why this game uses a 24 hour timezone to set the time of the start of the race. All I want to do is play at dawn when the lighting looks good but it seems they have have taken the extra effort to make this difficult. Like I get the "Realism" but do you really expect people to go on google timezones of specific countries so that you even know if 6:00 is blaring sun or pitch black.

It's a simulator, what did you expect? Maybe they could add taxi to go around tracks, right?

It probably took you longer to type your post than googling the timezone.....

Isn't a simulator still a game though. This is what i don't get about "it's a simulator" no it's a game first and foremost why can't we have stuff like this in non championship game modes. Also if it's a simulator then why is their no safety car?

I don't understand the need mostly. If I don't know I can try it, right?

I just want to be able to set the desired time of day without being inconvenienced. How about they be realistic and go by the time locals in the city of the track go by you know the time I would set in game. You act like this simulated race car driver travels the world like James Bond. there is a difference between being realistic to capture the spirit of something in real like and just being confusing and difficult for the sake of it. I could be wrong but I have never played a single other game where setting the time of day wasn't by the region you are in.

well you could always set a time multiplayer so it transitions from day to night or night to day it would give you a wider range of time going by so its more likely to get the nice lighting your looking for at least for a little while lol

so if you did 30min race x4 time multiplier 2 hours would go by in the race/game time it would still take a little experimenting depending on track

for me usually if i want to race at this time its later than i would expect more like 730-9pm in the game i think this would be like 1900 in game or somehting lol

i think this is a very niche issue that most people do not think about or have issues with most would just exit a race and change the time if its not what they want lol

Kind of my point though as I do exit the race its just if i start in Britain and go to a track in japan I don't know what time to set without looking up the timezone or just guessing. Sure its a petty issue but its also completely avoidable without any real effort on the Dev's part. Every other game in existence with a day night cycle has done it this way for a reason.

Maybe I missed something. It's like in any other game. What is different? If I want 7pm Monza I set 7pm Monza. Like in any other game?

Mine is 24 hours so if I set 7:00 in one race at a location it will be daytime but if i switch tracks to another it might be night time.

. . . Earth angle in relation to the sun plane.
It is not set as "night and day" but as "hours of the day", the locaiton will affect it and if at north it is day at 7:00pm at south it will be night and vice-versa
If you can not know what hemisphere the country of the track is it is not the game fault (you are setting an hour not day/night cycle)

If you want to make sure it is night set 20:30 (8:30pm) and beyond

honestly that seems strange and is something that i never noticed?

i do all my practice basically keeping the time the same and never changing it for every track lol

i do not notice any issue temp is always the same on every track and i guess thats more what im worried about than idk time of day though.

Temps definitely fluctuate through the day if you set a night/day cycle and drive enough for 12h+ to pass
goblueteam Apr 10, 2023 @ 4:41pm
yes...the temps change during a session i mean i keep the same in game start time for all tracks and never change it and its the same temp on every track when i start the session.

pretty sure i do keep all the dynamic weather stuff off for practice and in general unless im doing some kind of specific AI race in bad weather i dont really race the AI anymore

If you set the race for 07:00 at Brands Hatch then you will be racing at Brands Hatch at 07:00 in the morning in England. If you change the track to Mount Panorama you will still be racing at 07:00 in the morning in Australia.
The time set is the time at the track not where you are playing from.

l mean I don't know what to tell you. If I leave the time unchanged and switch tracks its a completely different time of day.
