stop and go penalty for speeding in the pit lane
I can still drive very slowly, but I keep getting a penalty in the pit lane for driving too fast out of the pit lane.
Is that a bug??
Or what am I doing wrong?

are you slowing down in time there is a white line and marker bored you have to be under the pit speed limit in first gear with pit limiter on not speeding at all and not turning the pit limiter off before the end of the pit

set pit limiter to auto.
max pit speed is 50 kph and first gear in the box. touching the pits entry line in 2nd gear and you still get the penalty even if you are slower that 50 kph.

Provide the conditions when asking for help, like car, track and session details like race length and ai or multiplayer.

In general I did test a few things. The use of pit limiter is not required, nor there are gear restrictions to getting penalties. The only thing that needs to be done is stay under 50 kph for entire pit lane. Both speed limit start and end are marked with white line and speed limit board.

I did my test in singleplayer on Paul Ricard 30 min quickrace against 20+ ai on Audi evo II. No pit limiter and going through all the gears in pit lane, in car speedometer at 44 - 48 kph. No penalty. Oops, I just thought that I did mine as a drive through and I just remembered that I think that if you turn off your engine at pits with the ignition key instead of the starter, you need engage the pit limiter again after starting the engine. If that matters to you ...

My guess would also be (as others suggested) that you were too fast on entry. If you are, you get the penalty when you leave the pits, not at the beginning. Especially when not used to it, it is (imo) hard to slow down fast enough. Much like with any turn, you need to know where to brake on which track to enter the pits.

That's my guess, anyway.

Thanks for all the answers, great community. It's like Draennon writes, it's when you drive in, if you're too fast there, despite the automatic limiter, strangely enough you get this penalty when you drive out

It is not strange, the "penalty" is given only when you leave pits.
Same for when you invalidate a lap, you only get the warning or the invalidatiopn notification after you return to the track or sometimes after you complete the turn (I already got the penalty notification when I finished the following turn that I absolutely for sure did not invalidate there, so it seem to be a penalty "per section").

I keep getting penalty. Are the signs that say 50 referring to KPH? Im going 50 mph out of the pits with the limiter on in first gear. Would I need to change to 30 mph? Little confused

Yes, signs are at Km/h not mph
